Marché Royal Plus — Local services in Montreal

I dropped by this grocery around 5:20 today, as I often do since I live next door. I saw that they were advertising a specific ice cream flavour as being on special for 4.99$, so I grabbed one and went to the register to pay up.

Said ice cream rang up at 6.99$, so I told the cashier about the 4.99$ special being advertised, and informed her that since it rang up at a higher price, the Politique d'exactitude des prix required that I get the item for free as it was under 10$.

She brought over some sort of older higher up employee, who right off the bat started berating me and laughing at my face, saying I wasn't entitled to anything, and that I could either buy the product or leave.

I'll be filing a complaint with the OPC tomorrow, and I hope it results in their employees being better trained so they understand what their legal obligations are. I've had items rung up at the wrong price at places like IGA and Jean-Coutu before, and I never had to ask for the Politique to be respected because employees already knew. If this place believes they can get away with breaking the law because they're a smaller grocery, they are...

I’m giving one star because we can not give a negative star instead. I don’t know which one of the owners Tony or Peter where VERY mean to my Mom yesterday when she just asked them to respect the price that was marked on the cheese she wanted to buy. She was told by one of them in a rude manner take it or leave it. I’m assuming that they don’t care about respecting the elders. They should know better , that with products under 10$ , my Mom should have gotten it for free instead of the special price. ITS THE LAW IF YOU DON’T KNOW! You guys should be ashamed. I will be taking trips there looking for wrong priced items and going to use the law in my advantage, can wait...

I love this place... some things might be a bit more, others less.... balances it out compared to other supermarkets. I huge advantage is that it closes late at 11 pm. So if you come late from work or forgot something for your family... you always have it available.... I only wish the meat was a bit better, more variety...
