After two big snowstorms in one week here in Montreal, I decided to brave the snowy roads and make my way to Fanfare Brunch Boulangerie for a much-needed brunch with a friend and some quiet time to get work done. I’m so glad I did—this place turned out to be the perfect cozy refuge from the cold, offering a welcoming atmosphere and delicious comfort food that hit the spot.

In depth review:
Atmosphere:
Fanfare is exactly what you need on a snowy day. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of friendly energy. It felt like stepping into a cozy retreat, where the chill from outside melts away as soon as you walk in. The music was upbeat yet soothing, creating an ideal background for a laid-back brunch. It was the perfect place to unwind, enjoy a good meal, and escape the wintery weather.
Coffee:
I kicked things off with a cappuccino, which was the perfect antidote to the snowy roads. The coffee was flawlessly brewed—smooth espresso with just the right amount of froth, providing the perfect boost to start the day. It set the tone for the meal ahead and got me feeling energized.
CLASSIQUE DÉJEUNER (18.50):
For my main dish, I went with the “Classique Déjeuner,” and it truly delivered. The Toulouse sausage was rich and flavorful, seasoned to perfection. The bacon was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside—just how I like it. The sunny-side-up eggs were cooked perfectly, with yolks that were perfectly runny and ideal for dipping into. The roasted potatoes were light and crisp, and the mini salad added a nice, fresh contrast to balance out the richness of the other elements. The homemade bread was fresh and soft, a simple but essential touch. This was classic breakfast comfort food at its finest—hearty, satisfying, and exactly what you need to start the day.
PUDDING SALÉ (22.00):
In the mood for something a little different, I also decided to try the “Pudding Salé.” This savory herb pudding roasted in butter was a unique and flavorful dish. The smoked meat was tender and juicy, and the eggs provided a nice creamy texture. The homemade crème fraîche added a rich element, while the house-pickled vegetables offered a bright, tangy contrast that balanced the richness of the dish beautifully. It was an inventive twist on brunch fare that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Overall:
I was able to settle into a sunny corner and get some work done while enjoying my meal, which made the whole experience both productive and relaxing. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was just right for catching up with a friend, taking a break, or getting some work done.
This brunch was exactly what I needed after the snowy weather—great food, a warm and cozy space, and a chill vibe. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of their menu. If you’re in Montreal, especially after a snowstorm, Fanfare Brunch Boulangerie is...
Read moreFanfare was one of the first places I fell in love with in the area. The one girl who used to work there 6 years ago was amazing in every way, friendly, hard working and made you feel welcome. She worked there for 2 years but then left. After, I felt the service was slowly going down hill.
Don’t get me wrong the food is absolutely amazing here, the quality in that regard hasn’t changed. But the service here can be awful. I will not put a blanket statement on everyone but when it comes to brunch most especially is what I’m referencing.
I’ve went to brunch on 2 occasions recently without a reservation. I was seated with no issue but was left without any water, menu, any attention for a half hour. The first time I just up and left since I had no idea when I would get served, and went across the street for breakfast. I went again another day and figured maybe it was a fluke, they were just busy but lo and behold it happened again. I waited it out this time and timed it to be 40m without anyone coming up to me.
It’s obvious if you don’t have a reservation you’re treated like second class. And I get it, it’s a busy place but it’s a very simple thing to just tell folks that it may be a little bit before they are served and maybe give them some water and a menu.
It makes me sad just because I love this place, but I’ve found other brunch places in the area that will treat you well and have equally as good food.
I have gone with a reservation and the service was ok but nothing stellar, obviously much better than just walking in. Just be wary if you go in without a reservation! Otherwise it’s worth a visit if you plan to make a reservation or just stop in for...
Read moreI’ve been here twice for brunch on weekends.
I liked the food, portions are decent and in most cases you can get single or double (eggs). My only complain about the food is the bacon, very thin and not enough quantity. I’ve also tried the chocolatine and croissants. They are ok.
The interior is small and it gets crowded. There are about 5-6 tables and a counter by the window facing Rue Jarry. There’s a constant flow of people in/out for the boulangerie, so if you are seated near the door you will get a lot of traffic.
Service is bad, in both occasions we made reservations and we were asked at least twice (when we sat & by the waitress) if we had reservations, even though there were empty tables. Both times, I still felt like they would ask us to move to another table or counter just because we were 2 people and they want to use the tables for bigger groups. The waitress takes your order, brings 1/2 bottle of water, brings your food and that’s it. If you want more water or order something else, good luck getting their attention. The only person nice enough to smile and made us feel welcomed was the cashier, an older lady with glasses.
Parking in adjacent streets was surprisingly easy to find in...
