Let us address the elephant in the room, or should I say, the lack thereof – the oxtail. Oh, how my heart sank when I beheld the measly offering before me. For $20, one would expect a generous portion, brimming with succulent meat and rich, flavorful gravy. Instead, what I received was nothing short of a culinary travesty – a mere four pieces of oxtail, predominantly bone with scarcely a hint of meat to be found. And to add insult to injury, not a drop of sauce or gravy adorned this pitiful excuse for a dish. But wait, it gets worse. As I surveyed the accompanying sides, my dismay only deepened. Three lonely pieces of plantain stared back at me mournfully, their golden hue dulled by neglect. And the rice and peas? Dry and lackluster, devoid of the vibrant flavors one would expect from such a quintessential Caribbean staple. Even the so-called "coleslaw" failed to impress, its lackluster presence doing little to redeem the dismal affair. In all my years as a discerning diner, I have never encountered such a woeful excuse for a meal. The sheer audacity of charging $20 for such a paltry offering borders on the absurd. It pains me to say, but this was, without a doubt, the worst food experience of my life. My disappointment knows no bounds, and I cannot help but feel a twinge of righteous indignation as I pen these words. To the proprietors of this establishment, I implore you – heed my words as a cautionary tale. Your patrons deserve better than this egregious display of culinary incompetence. May this review serve as a wake-up call, a rallying cry for improvement. For if you fail to heed the voice of dissatisfied customers, your fate is sealed. As for me, I can only hope that my $20 might be better spent elsewhere, in the capable hands of a chef who understands the true meaning of Caribbean hospitality.( i have...
Read moreI've been thinking about this food ever since I had some weeks ago. I live about 1.5 hours north of Montreal, and this food makes me wish I never moved out of the city.
I love Caribbean food. I have tried every spot I've heard of in Montreal. I've loved two restaurants the most. One of them sadly closed down. The other place is this one.
I tried the Curry Goat, Jerk Chicken, Roti, Oxtail stew, pineapple tarts, Chow Mein and those awesome donut-like desert things and they were all excellent. I ordered all this at one time. I had food for days, but it wasn't enough.I can't wait to get back for more food.
House of Taste is delicious. Food has great flavour, no fillers, not oily, not overly salty. Taste like home cooking, and makes me miss my mom.
The service is genuine and friendly. The owners love what they do, and it shows.

Read moreI had an amazing experience at House of Taste ! From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff was incredibly friendly, providing excellent service and making sure everything was just right.
Now, the food absolutely incredible! The jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned with the right balance of spice and smokiness, and the oxtail was tender and flavorful, falling right off the bone. The rice and peas were cooked to perfection, and the plantains added the perfect touch of sweetness to the meal.
Everything tasted authentic, fresh, and full of rich Caribbean flavors. You can tell they put love into every dish. Whether you're a fan of Jamaican cuisine or trying it for the first time, this is the place to go. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!...
