L'Artisan de Pasta nestled in the quaint neighborhood of Lasalle, is a hidden culinary treasure. This unassuming, small, bring-your-own-wine restaurant is a delightful haven for those seeking authentic and fresh Italian pasta dishes. From the moment you step in, the staff welcomes you with Open arms Their home-made bread its crispy crust and fluffy interior was succulent. I started with the Beets Ravioli as an appetizer, while my wife opted for the calamari. Both dishes left us thoroughly impressed, but the Beets Ravioli, in particular, was a revelation – fresh, delightful, and bursting with flavor. For the main course, we savored pasta dishes with Ragu and Filet Mignon Ravioli. Both were bursting with rich, mouthwatering flavors, but my personal favorite was the Filet Mignon stuff Ravioli with fresh Portobello. The stuffed ravioli with succulent sauce, was an absolute masterpiece. The flavors and the sauce that accompanied it were simply outstanding. To complete our culinary journey, we indulged in the tiramisu for dessert, and it was a delightful ending to an already fantastic meal. The fact that this hidden gem also sells fresh pasta to take home was an added bonus. What truly sets L'Artisan de Pasta Perfect Gem apart is its exceptional service. The staff treated us like family, making our dining experience even more memorable. It's no wonder this hidden gem has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants. If you're in the Lasalle area and have a craving for exquisite, fresh Italian pasta dishes, this charming little...
Read morePros: I really enjoyed the kind waitstaff. You could tell that this is an authentic family run Italian restaurant. Waitstaff were very kind. The restaurant is small but very clean and nice. Overall atmosphere is great.
The homemade confit was fantastic. Fruity and delicious. Fantastic on the bread. Bread was also very nice, it felt fresh (the butter could have been room temperature). The pasta noodles were nice, had a very pleasant mouth feel, and looked beautiful.
Really enjoyed the fact that they have a limited menu.
Cons: I really, I really wanted to love this restaurant and give it a better rating. The staff was so kind, and everything felt fresh. I am unsure if this is simply my peasent taste buds, but the tomato sauce felt super lack luster. While the noodles were wonderful, the sauce was very bland. It felt like it was missing something. It felt like it was made entirely of tomatoes with nothing else (and perhaps this is actually what it was supposed to taste like and I am just so used to American style sauce that a real Italian sauce was confusing to me). I felt like adding black pepper, basil, salt, and red pepper flakes would dramatically improve the taste (for me). For 30-35$ pasta plates per person, I was expecting something more flavourful.
I feel like this must have been a fluke as the reviews are so high. Perhaps the kitchen was having an off day. I hope to come back again in the future and revise this review. I really believe that L'Artisan de La Pasta...
