McDonald's — Restaurant in Montreal

This is BY FAR the worst McDo in town! I live right next door, so I've had more than many occasions to discover how lame this branch is.

For starters, this location is HOBO HEAVEN. There is a community of semi-homeless people hanging out there 24/7, and they even allow some bums to SLEEP in there. It is sometimes intimidating, and most often just plain nasty and irritating for the nose.

Then, when it comes to customer service.... The morning staff is nice and friendly, but the rest of the time, the employees are slow and incompetent. One will NEVER leave the drive-thru within 10 minutes. Indoor service isn't any faster at all, and ever since they brought the new order-assisting computer (which is always bugging for XYZ reason), the lineup (or lack thereof) is terribly confusing and the order call-out system is poorly executed (and simply unpleasant). The staff will often mess up your order. The nightime manager 'Phil' is rude and unprofessional as all hell. He'll greet you with an expeditive 'Yes?'. I once saw a staff member drop coffee cup lids on the floor, then pick them up and put them on their caddy, to be used later. During that same visit, there was Drake music played super loud in the kitchen, and the man cooking had long hair without a net. After writing a complaint via the website, the manager wrote me back (in the poorest orthography) some lame message that I could barely understand, as the language quality was so poor.

All this being said, I suggest that you skip this...

Jan 2 2024 update: Relatively clean interior, no wait time, seems to be more staff since original review. Many improvements.

June 1 2023 update: Quick and courteous service through drive through, no wait time.

Update: Passed by around 9 am, drive through was open and I got my food fairly quickly. It was all correct and quality was as I expected.

Original review: I was impressed in a not very good way today, when I went to pick up an order that was already ordered and paid for via the mcdonalds mobile app.

At 9 am: The front and back doors were locked, both drivethrough entries blocked via garbage cans, despite the restaurant having: 24h open sign Hours on google that indicate open from 6 am The mobile application allowing to place orders and select pick up from inside counter.

Tried calling, no answer. Had to basically bang on the drive through window to get the attention of someone who was talking on a cellphone, who basically signaled "we are closed" at which point we had to yell that we already paid for our order and thst it was a pick up. Only then did they give us our order which was cooling off as it was probably ready over 10 minutes ago while we tried to get in for 15 minutes.

Could have been worse, as we did get our order in the end, but really not great. If the restaurant isn't open, hours should be changed and mobile app should not...

I go to this McDonald’s 2 times a day. Yes, this McDonald’s is terrible. It is slower than slow. I learned a Cambodian word for slow (Yule) and when I walk in I immediately say it out loud. At around 5am most of the time the drive through is closed. Only deliveries get through. The staff is difficult to find, I was told by an employee that they doze off in the basement. Can’t prove it, but if an employee says so??? At 5 often the coffee is undrinkable! Tastes terrible but I need my fix. Twice this past winter I threw it away. At 9am, when the doors are open, it is painfully slow. I have had to leave because it took more than 10 minutes for 1 coffee. I treat the staff politely and have never run into an arrogant member. I have been told by several members of the staff that there is a shortage of employees and that is why they don’t open the doors. They already can’t keep up with the load. It is a busy McDonald’s. Lots of drive through and deliveries!! The staff are just coping and the new employees don’t receive the proper training because of it. I keep my cool, politeness and patience.
