Miche Dorée (La) — Restaurant in Montreal

I've been going there once a week since I moved into the neighbourhood. Service was never amazing, on the contrary, they forget half the time I take soy milk and I have to remind them when they take the cow's milk out of the fridge, but it's on my way to the metro for a quick coffee in the morning and they were never "disrespectful". I usually have to make the queue twice, once to order my coffee and second to pay, which I find weird and time consuming but never complained. Last time, I asked if they could ring me right after I got my coffee as I was in a hurry that morning, and they told me I had to pay before I ordered. I answered that it's something that should be discussed with the employees as they are the ones controlling the transaction. The girl at the cash, who I think is a manager, just looked at me condescendingly just waiting for the money. That was it, there are so many places in the neighbourhood who are polite and friendly and should be encouraged instead for their effort to provide...

I understand that this place now has a new management and I hope it is NOT related to the former one, because this is what happened to me the last time I went there - and I do hope the problem has been rectified: came in this place as a paying, sit-down customer (who ate on the premises) and the staff of this place was disrespectful beyond belief toward their customers.

As I was about to exit, I put back my empty tray and I was stopped by an older staff member, an older woman who said with a suspicious tone that I had to ''order and pay'' to be here- after I paid 15$ for a pizza and muffin! Even worse, the woman did not apologize for her mistake and no one (among the staff) said or did anything.

If there is a new management, I do hope they did what is necessary to rectify and correct unacceptable behaviour like this, because if not, do not give them...

I like this place, it's comfortable and the people are nice. I guess the espresso machine is fussy, sometimes the coffees are outstanding, sometimes they're like coffee with milk. They're really fussy about the size of particular types of espresso based coffee, so you have to order a latte plus an extra shot to get a good sized cappuccino sized drink (the menu cappuccino is tiny). Another peeve is their payment system used to let me key in the tip amount, when it's takeout my default is 10%, but they changed it so it starts at 18%, which is just too high for takeout. Since I go out a lot, it adds up. But this doesn't affect my rating, it's just a bad...
