Nickels Deli — Restaurant in Montreal

Came here twice so far. The first time was slow, but service was acceptable. When I meant slow, I meant 1 hour until the food is served, when only 5 tables were seated. I went back today, order from Lunch menu, the waitress did not ask for my appetizer choice, until I point out to her that my lunch came with appetizer, which she gave me the annoyed face. Food is slow as usual and service is rude. I did not manage to finish my food, so I ask for a box to pack my lunch, the waitress gave me the box along with the bill. I had to point out to her that my lunch from lunch menu includes dessert and coffee/Tea. She blame me for asking the bill without asking for dessert, which I never did. I only ordered a box! I have never been to a restaurant where the waitress is rude and doesn't know what is included with the lunch.

The food is really just okay, but doesn't worth the wait. The service is not great, and does not worth 1% of tips. The price is alright for lunch menu.

If you are homeless and have no where to go, order some cheap food here and you will get to stay there whole day sleeping and waiting for the food and maybe by the time you wake up, you might have your food. Then you get to sleep again until the next day when they finally deliver you the dessert. (Assuming the waitress understand the word "included"...

My wife and I used to go to this restaurant 20 years ago. Was an amazing place. Today, after 20 years, we brought our 2 kids to the restaurant for the first time. Wow, not the same place it used to be. Empty dining room on a Saturday evening. Quality of the Food is not great. We got some nearly stale desserts. We are not the type to return food to the kitchen. You have 1 chance to impress us. The 4 of us got bad stomach aches an hour after we left.

My advice, if you don’t sell a product regularly, take it off the menu instead of serving semi stale food, occasionally.

Please, I don’t need the administrators to reply to this review. I won’t be coming back. The reason for this review is simply to advise the owners of the lack of food quality in their establishment. Yes, I know, Nickels is not a fine dining restaurant but other restaurants serving your type of food have a quality product for the same price and sometimes cheaper.

Food is always great. Have practically tried everything on their menu with no complaints. The manager , staff and employees are always polite and courteous to their customers. The bar is a great place to be when you just want to enjoy a drink or food. Always a welcome place. UPDATE Over the last couple of weeks since November 2022 this place has gone downhill. The staff is incredible but whoever is the owner has dropped the ball big time Toilets don’t work, heating off,missing items on-the menu and a total lack of care for customers and the restaurant Really a sad state for a place that was great I’ve been going to the bar for over 10 years and whoever is in control of this place has completely neglected it I will continue to go there just because the staff are my friends but if they weren’t there I wouldn’t be there as well as many of my friends...
