Ok ... time for an update! Since this place opened it has developed into a really bad habit as far as I am concerned. It's just a few doors along from but with the atmosphere there I treat it as an extension of our living room. Especially with their comfortable banquette ... but I sit at the bar too.
This place serves the best milkshakes on Wellington and is the only place where you can get an affogato. If you are looking for a burger they have a great selection, and don't forget that they do brunch every day of the week too. The fries could be chunkier but are still better than most around here but that's just me.
All of the staff are great, but some of the clientele leave something to be desired as usual. A special shout out to Andrew, Stephanie and Anna, but especially to Mike who is dog-friendly. Don't complain here, talk to them and they will fix it.
Sometimes we order food to take out and it is always well-packaged.
So what sucks?
The room at the back is like a dentist's waiting room. Avoid it.
The menu gets a bit tedious after a while since it is fixed in plastic but it's a chain so I guess any changes are pushed out centrally.
When ordering food to take out it almost always takes a long time to be handed over but they are usually busy with on-line orders.
That's all for now ... I will be back there tomorrow as usual. Original review below ...

new restaurant on Wellington! We had visited other NBG restaurants but since this one is just one minute from the door we couldn't resist. Considering that they have only just opened the service was fine.
The atmosphere is just right ... Pop art murals and paintings, music at rge right volume so that you can talk easily. The banquette was very comfortable too.
A drinks menu did not seem to available. The menu will be familiarise. We ordered sangrias and then a tropical temple with caesar salad and a grilled cheese. The order arrived with no problems at all, so we ordered dessert - apple crumble and a mint milk shake. Again the service was fine. So, a good start, a welcome addition to the choice...
Read moreI'd like to give 4.5 instead of 4, but there's no option for that. First, this place is automatically amazing because it has - wait for it - TATER TOTS. Why would you get fries somewhere if you can get tater tots??? The food is really delicious and the service is good - so here's why I'm giving 4 stars (but really 4.5 if possible): Obviously there won't be many veg options at a place with 'boeuf' in the name, but one option offered explicitly on the menu is an all-dressed veggie hot dog. That's what I ordered, but when it came, it was meat. All good, I understand it's loud and hard to hear, but I definitely ordered a veggie dog (as confirmed by the rest of my party). When I asked if they could re-make the order, I was informed that they don't in fact have any veggie dogs, which is kind of a bummer since it's right there on their menu. I ordered a grilled cheese instead, and to their credit, it came super fast. They have kids meals, but they're HUGE. Like, the same size as adult meals. I can't recall if they're cheaper (probably?), but if you're thinking the kids meal is actually kid-sized and therefore more appropriate for a child, BUT your kid actually wants something else, go for it. I think my daughter's meal was even bigger than mine. Maybe this isn't a bad thing if you're paying less for the same amount, but if you don't take it home, it's just wasted food. It's loud and the music seems to jump all over. Could have been the couple of nights we went, but please choose a playlist and stick with it - and maybe put the volume down just enough so people at the same table can hear each other.
Otherwise, I think this is definitely worth a visit - I don't know that my experience would apply across the board, so pop in...
Read moreI want to make this clear that this only for the Verdun location. I had written a very negative review the NDG location concering their ribs (one star and jerk fries were aweful), and as I refuse to buy from that location again, I can only be honest with the Verdun location.
So though it was not me who ordered, I tried everything, and OMG! night and day.
What was ordered was the Mac and Ribs combo. The ribs this time around were soft and tender, melt in your mouth. The mac and cheese, not heavy with low quality cheese. instead had a nice balance between flavor and thickness. The ribs were not smoked for a long period of time, but the flavor did penetratrate (though not enough), and it was delicious
Then we did a test. Put the extra in the fridge and see what happens. The ribs, cold were still soft. The macaroni, did not turn into a solid block of garbage cheese. Instead, it was easily broken (cold) and full of flavor (10+ next day mac and cheese). They used real cheese!
I can still not recommend the NDG loction, as I have yet to return, and honestly don't want to may to be dissapointed again, but the Verdun location is an amazing class act. I would not hesitate to...
