12$ for 2 mini tacos is INSANITY! I was extremely disappointed. We tried 5 different tacos and only 1 was good. The Baja was very yummy just on the spicy side. The Pollos Hermanos (fried chicken) was extremely dry. The Al Pastor had no sauce and so bland. The Camarones Y Queso (shrimp and cheese) made me extremely sick. Was not fresh, it tasted so bad. One bite and I was sick to my stomach. The Birria was meh. Not authentic whatsoever. Again very dry. Overall the food was bland and the portions were ridiculously small.
I was with a big group, so we got to sit upstairs which was fun and private. The service was extremely slow. No one was cleaning up the tables. There were dirty plates everywhere and it was overwhelming. I get that we were a big group but the resto was dead so I donât get why the service was slow. Some people took the 45$ Escondite Experience (plates to share). They didnât even want to tell you what was included. They said âTrust usâ. Glad I didnât because it was not worth it and many were not impressed.
EDIT: Their reply is completely false and itâs a standard...
Read moreOne word to describe our night... Amazing. Perfect for carnivores, pescatarians, vegetarians and vegans ! We were 6 people (3 couples), the waiter recommended the Escondite experience for 45$ (which we all took) it included guacamole and chips, mango & cucumber salad, chicken wings&ribs (vegan option cauliflower wings), mushroom and cheese tortilla, 3 kinds of tacos (fish, chicken &pork) and for plant based (cauliflower and vegan protein) and finally churros for dessert. Everything tasted so fresh and so flavourful. đ€€đ The waiter also recommended the spicy margarita.... yuuuuuumm. I took 2 it was so delicious!! I hate cilantro and all I had to do is mention it and problem solved. First time I can actually enjoy so many mexican dishes without it ! Drinks and food was so good and everyone was completely full and satisfied at the end of the night. Service was perfect as well ! Food was so good we barely took the time to take pictures đ we stuffed our face instead! Thank you to our waier...
Read moreI started off with the cucumber-mango salad. The presentation was nice, but the mangoes weren't ripe. It wasn't as good as I remember.
Three of us shared a plate of guacamole and chips. The combo was delicious.
I had the general tao cauliflowers. They were covered in too much rib sauce and were served alone, without even a sprinkle of something crunchy, herbs for texture or a spoon of rice to balance out the strong acidity of the sauce.
I finished off my meal with the cauliflower tacos, of which there were only two. They were made vegan by removing the sauce and doubling the guac. They were crispy on the outside and warm and tender on the inside, but bland. I tried to flag down a waiter for 10 minutes to get a slice of lime, but they were all too busy, so I relunctantly ate the tacos plain.
I have a small appetite, so I was full after 3 tapas.
Like every other escondite, the decor was very trendy and eclectic.
The music was too loud, so we couldn't hear each other speak...
