I was quite disappointed tonight with both food and service. We haven't been here for over 2 years, and my first review was 5 out of 5 stars. Today, I give it a 2 because 1-we came for their famous dumpling and were told only upon ordering that they don't make it tonight. Then we went on to order Chinese chives pancakes, were told they don't have it either. Went on to order something else, and were told the same thig again. So I went on and asked "how about you tell me everything you don't have tonight". The waitress proceeded to point at another few items we wanted. Sigh. 2-the food came out quickly and when I tried the food, it was cold...it should have been steaming hot coming out of the kitchen which wasn't. 3-we arrived before 2 other guests, yet they got their order in first, served first before they even bother to take our order. 4-we asked for to-go boxes multiple times to 2 different is staff, and again, service is not so great, they went on clearing tables (no lines up or anything) before taking care of current clients. 5- the food is nothing like it used to be. I am a hard critic and saying that Chinese food was the best there means something, to go back and the food was changed to satisfy the caucasian's palate...means I could simply go to any Chinese food court and get the same food...sorry, brutally honest but I wont be coming back here. Such a disappointment unfortunately because 2 years ago, I was highly recommending this place to all my...
Read moreNot sure how I missed this place before, it's been there for 11 years but I'm sure glad I found it now. A delicious Chinese restaurant outside of Chinatown, yay! Whoever mama Hong is, thanks!
BTW, their website food photos are not all accurate so don't rely on them.
Have had: Cantonese chow mien, pork belly dish, green beans with ground pork, Singapore noodles, beef ginger, bok choy garlic and all of them were delicious and I highly recommend. I can't speak for all the other dishes but those were certainly amazing and good quality. All the ingredients were a little above and beyond, you could tell.
The Cantonese Chow mien for example used a slightly different noodle than I'm used but it was still so good and the veggies and meat were a good quantity and quality. They used little chunks of thicken thighs for example, tender and marinated instead of thin dry chicken breasts in other places I've been to. It also had shrimp, chicken, beef! All 3!
1000% recommend and will be coming back. The in house dining set up looked quite nice as well, not super fancy but definitely beyond a cheap in and out place so you could come with friends and family to have a nice dinner there...
Read moreWent with a non Chinese friend. We didn't order spicy dishes cause my friend cannot have spicy food. Overall the food was okay. Both the beef and pork had too much potato starch. It didn't meet my expectations (heard from friends that it was really good) tho. However my friend loved the dishes. One potential reason could be we didn't order the classic spicy dishes that I'd like. I'd go with my Chinese friends to order more classic dishes to see how I like the restaurant. Giving it a ⭐⭐⭐⭐ considering that the dishes we ordered weren't really those I'd like, which might have impacted how I liked the food. If I can give a half rating, I might do 3.5 :)
Giving ⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating to Service cause the cashier explained that they couldn't do % for tips anymore due to the new law, and suggested that I could change the number I'd like, which made me feel like I should give more, despite that fact the lowest default tip was already about 18%. But.. I might have...
