We’re pretty upset after ordering another cake that’s not prepared as we ordered two days in advance. Our family’s been regulars and ordering from motta for more than 20 years but unfortunately the quality just seems to deteriorate.

We always ask for the cake to have almonds on the side and out of at least 7 cakes we order every year, we only receive 3 cakes with almonds.

We placed an order for a birthday cake two days prior to pick up and asked to have a cake ready for 17h00. Today we went to pick up around 18h30 and the cake wasn’t ready, they just forgot about our order (the lady who we first spoke to on the phone did place our order but the employees that were supposed to prepare it seemed to have forgotten?!?)

It’s been a joke in the family for quite a while where every time we order a celebratory cake, we joke about what the cake will be missing. The only reason we go back is because we genuinely love the taste of their cakes but we’re more than tired of their negligence; lack of almonds that we make sure to always ask for in advance, getting the birthday message banner wrong almost every single time and tardiness on a birthday when we have reservations somewhere else.

We appreciate Motta as a neighbourhood’s establishment, we are the first to recommend to our friends, but the bakery department should value a loyal client and take their...

This was my go to place everytime I went to Montreal. I live in the Laurentians. The service & food was always great. The man that used to serve me all the time at the cash was such a sweetheart & would always be happy when he would see me & talk up a storm. I went this past Thursday & felt something was off. The people that used to work there were no longer there, they didn't have the big selection of prepared dishes they used to have, they didnt have the big selection of pastries they used to have at the counter, they didnt have the floor fridge with different dishes & desserts like rice pudding anymore, the store looked bare, the prices were alot higher than usual. I asked when I paid if there was a change of ownership & she said yes... I knew it! Anyhow, I don't know if they changed cooks & bakers too, but the dishes & pastries weren't as good as they used to be... the vegetables, potatoes & celery in the dishes were undercooked...the cheesecake, tirimisu & cheese Danish were not fresh. I'm so disappointed for I've been going to this place for over 20 years... anyhow best of luck to the new owners... you should change the name tho...for sadly, its not the Motta I used to...

I used to love coming to Motta and I haven’t been in 2-3 years - I decided to go for lunch one day impromptu and the service I received was SHOCKING. I waited 20 minutes to get served as the two women at the counter didn’t even acknowledge my presence and they kept serving people who had arrived after me. When they finally took my order it took 10 minutes for them to reheat my eggplant Parmesan in the microwave, and halfway through eating my lasagna I realized the middle of it was completely cold still. I went to the counter so they could reheat it and went back to my seat - after 6 minutes I still didn’t receive my food back so I went up to the counter and saw the dish just laying on the counter before the server noticed I was there and then quickly scrambled to bring the dish to my seat.

Overall just a bad experience and Motta isn’t what it used to be, food isn’t nearly as good as it was and the people working there shouldn’t be in customer service . I’m usually a patient person but I was really tested today.

Not...

So we've been long time Motta customers for over 20 years and was are favorite Pizza in the City. Last night we ordered are usual pizza and it was absolutely the worst pizza I've ever had, nothing like it used to be. I had heard they changed ownership but we loved the pizza so we hoped that everything would be the same. The pizza was awful. The new owners obviously have cheaped out on the ingredients they use. We asked for extra sauce and there was no sauce and they put ham or sausage rinds that make the pizza taste like you chewing on plastic fibers. It was totally tasteless, low quality ingredients. Further more we called it in for pick up , arrived 30 minutes later and it took them another 30 minutes to cook it because they hadn't started it. SO DISAPPOINTED.

*edit to 5 stars Went back today for Father's Day takeout and the pizzas and service were amazing!!!! Fresh, quality and generous ingredients! Thanks Motta! See you soon! Usually go there for their canolli and desserts and sausage. Had their pizzas ( a l' Italienne and Motta). Very tasty and light. Nice thin crust but not dry. Good cheese and fresh ingredients. The canolli was awesome and crispy but I was disappointed with the other desserts. But would definitely go back for food and canolli. :)

Mon go to Ă  chaque stop au marchĂ© jean talon !
