The 1 star review I'm giving is not based on the quality of their pastries. My family and I have been going there for as long as I can remember, and have always enjoyed the quality and taste. The 1 star is for the poor service I received this 24th of December. I travel out of town, to Ontario, to spend Christmas with my family and I always bring pastries. I placed my order with a pleasant young lady behind the counter. I asked for 2 dozen assorted pastries. My family likes the cannoli, so I bought 6 of them. I had lost count , and asked her how many were in the boxes. After counting, I was told that there were 25. I said no problem. I even added a 26th to complete the order. She then proceeded with the pastries to another section where she could tabulate the total amount I owed. A few minutes later, she reappeared with 3 pastry boxes tied up and ready to go. Before paying, I said "so there are 26 pastries?" Yes she replied. Fast forward to Christmas Eve in Ontario. We open the pastry boxes, and my sister asks "You didn't get cannoli?". To my surprise, the six cannoli weren't there. I counted 21 total pastries, and no cannoli. The math didn't even add up. There should have been 20 total pastries if 6 cannoli were missing. I have no idea how this employee messed up my order, but it was clear that she was inexperienced. I don't even know if she charged me for 26 pastries, as no receipt was given, and I didn't pay attention to the prices. All in all, it was a disappointing experience. In all the years that I have been going there, it was the only bad experience that I have had. I hope that this will never...

Alati Caserta is a true gem in the heart of Montreal’s Little Italy, a bakery that has mastered the art of tradition and taste. While the storefront might be modest and not wheelchair accessible, the warmth and charm inside more than make up for it. There’s usually a lineup outside, but don’t let that deter you—it’s a testament to the loyalty and love this bakery has earned from its customers over the years.

Every visit feels like stepping into a world where quality and care reign supreme. Their creations are consistently flawless, crafted with a dedication to excellence that is hard to find elsewhere. From the first bite, you’ll know that Alati Caserta is in a league of its own. The flavors are rich and authentic, with a perfect balance of textures that speak to decades of mastery.

The service here is nothing short of outstanding. The staff is friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. Whether you’re a first-timer or a loyal regular, you’re treated like family.

With plenty of parking nearby, getting there is hassle-free, making it easy to return time and time again—which you will, because once you experience Alati Caserta, you’ll understand why so many call it their favorite bakery in Montreal.

I would give you 6...

Huuuuuge line to get inside which is fine, but the card machine wasn't working and they didn't have a sign up or anything. I had cash but it would have sucked to wait for 30 minutes and then have to leave empty handed because of the card machine being down.

The cannolis were honestly mediocre, I was surprised. The millefeuille was meh. I wanted something white chocolate for my boyfriend's birthday and they didn't have anything. I wish their menu was online so I could have checked before spending so much time waiting in line. Might be time to upgrade the website, perhaps online ordering as well to provide better service during the pandemic?

The staff were nice, knowledgeable and helpful except for the girl at the cash. Flustered and no eye contact. I thanked her at the end of the transaction and she said "no problem". Might just be a personal pet peeve but I HATE that. I'm thanking you for your service, you could thank me in return for my business. I think its family-run and she's the daughter, she needs some customer service training.

I wish I could say I'd be back because I am all about supporting local small businesses but I...

I recently visited this Italian pastry shop with high hopes, especially for their cannoli, which came highly recommended by social media and highly advertised. The shop has a tempting display of traditional Italian sweets. Seating area outside consists of a bench and picnic table. The lady who served us looked annoyed. Nothing personal, maybe she was having a bad day. When it came to the cannoli, I have to admit I was underwhelmed. The ricotta filling tasted way too sweet for me and had a mix , I would say a tiny bit of ricotta and very buttery cream in the regular cannoli, the others cannolis had a creamy butter filling. It didn’t have the richness or depth of flavor I was hoping for. It wasn’t bad—it was just... okay. That said, some of their other pastries tasted delicious and I’d be willing to give them another shot—just probably not for the cannoli. Your best cannoli is probably at your local Italian bakery or paistry shop. Mine is!

So I didn't go there to try some hard shell with whipped cream named cannoli. I know about it, tried it in Italy and it's not something that will ever impress me. I went there to try the desserts that are so hard to find in Canada. I'm talking about the ones that have a filling instead of a sponge cake with cream on top. And here, I found them! The prices were reasonable for everything that I got, the texture was so soft, especially the mousse one(they even got the moose consistency right) and the Opera cake was not dry unlike other places. Perfect blend of flavors and even the pistachio cookies, they are hard for the first time but then they just melt in your mouth. I loved them all and I'll definitely come back for special occasions!
