The food was fantastic! However, the waitress with the very short skirt was VERY RUDE. She completely ruined what would have been otherwise a great evening. At first, when we arrived 10 minutes earlier, she opened the restaurant door and said that the restaurant was closed and that it was too early to enter. We replied by asking(kindly, because no one deserves less) if we could just wait inside for the remaining 10 minutes, to which she replied by rolling her eyes as she reluctantly opened the door. That made us feel very uncomfortable, especially because we were there to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday. Later in the evening, about 20-30 minutes after the restaurant opened, she passed by our table and with her bottom she tossed the things we had on the table(granted, it could have been an accident), almost spilling the drinks on top of my wife, and instead of apologizing, she just kept going as if nothing had happened. So, when she was coming back, I called her to let her know of what had transpired; I told her that she had tossed our things while she was passing and that she should be more careful because it almost caused an accident(I wouldn’t have said anything if she had just turned an offered a quick apology), to which she replied in a very cynical tone(and a smile on her face) that WE should be the ones careful with where we place our things. We were shocked because our things were on top of the table, where they should be. And then she swiftly left, I then replied while she was leaving that we are the customers here(trying to imply that that’s not how one treats a client while serving at a restaurant), to which she replied again loaded with cynicism(and a smile) “I know”. We felt insulted and, overall, mistreated. Nevertheless, the waiter that was ACTUALLY assigned to our table, the one with a beard, was very nice. The difference between that selfish brat(the waitress) that carelessly ruined our night and the gentleman(bearded waiter) that made sure we were appropriately taken care of, was like day and night. No one should be treated the way that girl treated us tonight. On a different note, my compliments...
Read moreWe were a group of 4 people and we ordered 5 dishes, a couple of cocktails and a few beers.
Both drinks and food were quick to arrive, despite the restaurant being fully packed indoors and on the outdoor patio. We asked if we could get a table outside, but there was already a good amount of people sitting at the bar and waiting to get the next available patio table. We got a table indoors, and it did get quite loud, as everyone was trying to talk over the music, and it was quite warm inside on a hot summer evening.
The servers were quick, courteous and efficient. They were running around bringing food and drinks, and taking away empty dishes as soon as they saw them on our table.
From the cocktails, we've tried the Mezcalita and the Mango margarita. Didn't taste the mezcal in the Mezcalita (+$2 for mezcal), but the Mango margarita was delicious. The only issue with the drinks was that there was an excessive amount of ice in them, which made it a bit disappointing.
From the food, we had the following dishes:
Fajitas pollo: Chicken with vegetables sautéed on the grill, beans, cheese, wheat tortillas, and house sauce and sour cream on the side.
Tacos de carnitas (3): Confit pulled pork tacos, coriander, onions and salsa.
Enmoladas: Corn tortillas with Mole (chocolate sauce), chicken, sour cream, sesame and cheese.
Haven't tried the other two dishes that were ordered, so I can't really comment on them.
The Fajitas pollo were what you would expect from a lightly flavored home cooked meal. You could taste the smoky grill flavor, but I wish there was a bit more depth to it. The pulled pork in Tacos de carnitas was juicy and perfectly flavored. Enmoladas were deliciously chocolatey and flavourful, thanks to the Mole sauce. It was a reasonably large dish and is a great dish to be shared if you want or combine the main meal with a sweet, chocolatey dessert.
I would definitely suggest making a reservation (which we did) as well as arriving earlier, and trying to get an outdoor patio table, as it is much quieter and has better air circulation (since it's located outdoors, right on the...
Read moreI had a tamarind margarita, ceviche, and tacos "al Pastor". The staff was friendly and the energy of the smallish restaurant was very positive. I enjoyed the food and the experience. We arrived before the rush without a reservation and were accommodated, but I suggest making a reservation if you can.
The tamarind margarita was perfect, rimmed with Tajin. I asked them to go easy with the agave syrup as I'm not too fond of sweet drinks, and either they listened to me and adjusted down or they know what they're doing and that's the way they make them all the time. Nice balance and super good.
They have a medium selection of tequilas including some Reposados and Anejos.
The ceviche was really tasty but seemed a bit over pickled to me. It was a bit rubbery. Still good though. I finished all of the rather substantial appetizer.
The tacos al pastor were rich and heavy, three blue corn tortillas packed with meat. They were pretty mildly spiced and served with a medium-hot salsa and pickled onions on the side. I could have spiced them up with hot sauce but I feel that's sort of cheating - I'd prefer the food to be made they way it's meant to be eaten rather than to be served mild and spice it up with condiments.
I was quite happy with the experience and I'm looking forward to a...
