I just read the comment about the lady at the counter is an « ice cube » and I have the same feedback if we’re referring to the same older lady. She actually reminds me not to go eat here. Her expression and attitude screams « I hate my job and having to serve you people! » or « I don’t care or understand the concept of Customer Service ». However there is a young guy that sometimes works the kitchen and the cash and he’s very nice with great attitude and make you feel welcomed. Because of him, your other hard working staff and your food I give you 3 star. I would go more often if I didn’t have to deal with the cold lady. Owners, the person taking the order is most of the time the only person we get to interact with and this reflects directly on your reputation and customer service satisfaction. I understand that you’re not the Ritz-Carlton but I’m saying this because I actually like to visit your place with my kids and wished that it was an overall better experience. Thanks...
Read moreThis place is capable of some great poutines, but it's wildly inconsistent in terms of quantity and quality. Was my go to for a while, but in the last month I've experienced poutines with barely any sauce if I didn't ask for extra to sometimes swimming in it, generous amounts of cheese one night and then very little the next. But what really killed it for me is the fries. They used to be good but they've been horrendous: lil thin bits of hard potato, leathery chewy old fries, black mush, like there wasn't a single good fry in my last poutine they just emptied whatever fries were leftover into my meal and thought that was acceptable. Trying to mix the cheese and gravy with the fries it sounded like I was mixing a bowl of rocks there were that many rock hard potatoes, couldn't believe it. Can't order from them anymore because you never know what you're...
Read moreSometimes the best food is hidden in the most surprising places. If you're looking for a good classic poutine for a very good price, look no further than La Belle Province. If you're an American like me, a comparison would be something like the atmosphere of a place like Five Guys, but for poutine. There is a variety of food like burgers and hot dogs, but really, if you're visiting Montreal from the States, you're not looking for a burger or hot dog.
The poutine is fantastic. The fries are nice and crispy, the cheese curds are the freshest and squeakiest I've found anywhere (except perhaps Broue Pub Bruhahaha in Rosemount), and the gravy is perfectly meaty and salty.
Admittedly not an attractive place, but it has an old fast-casual charm, and the poutine more than makes up for its...
