Restaurant Pho Viet Nam — Restaurant in Montreal

Excellent service 👌 waiters & waitresses are kind and helpful and the food is delicious 😋 my husband and I love it there I asked the plate with meat, noodles and 2 spring rolls, my husband a combo not sure the names but it was delicious and good portions and the owner is very kind and friendly too. Very clean and friendly atmosphere.

[[Edit]] we had a fallout with "the tall guy" everyone is talking about sometime earlier this year. We were lucky before we didn't get him as our server, but when we unfortunately did, he was extremely rude and ignored us a few times. It seems that person is a relative of the owner, otherwise I don't know why they don't simply show him the door. My parents owned a restaurant for over 30 years, and I managed it for a big portion of my adult life, so I should know a few things here and there about restaurant service. While we tried to be very patient, he was highly unprofessional and overtly rude, making hand gestures as to shut us off and snapping at us when we asked nicely. We haven't been back since and probably won't be for a while. It's a shame because the food is amazing, and the owner seems like a kind man, but the bad manners of this person are ruining...

**update March 9, 2024 Service has improved. Our young waiter was improved this negative part of this restaurant.

*Update August 1 2023 Service is improved, but the taller gentleman waiter still needs to improve their people skills. I updated service from 2 to 3 stars because of the young man who grated us. *

From what I read of other reviews, I can confirm that the service is left to be desired and can use lots of improvement. As my wife who lived in Vietnam for over a decade said that this typical of true vietnamese as they are selective of how they serve you and who they serve first. My soup was flavourful when compared to other restaurants that we have tried in the Montreal region, a second runner up to our place of choice in Brossard. My wife ordered the grilled chicken which she enjoyed, but was used to receiving it in a bowl versus on a plate. We said we would try this restaurant again as she mentioned that they have many traditional vietnamese dishes. Hopefully the service we got improves and I can revise my opinion on...

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had! My partner and I dined here and it was a mess, the service was awful from start to finish. As soon as we got there, there was a rush and the servers were trying to make room for my partner and I and another pair. We were first in line yet the first available table was offered to the couple behind us before, the pair graciously offered us the table first. After, being seated we ordered calamari before our main meals and drinks. The calamari came out before ordering and and I had the menu out because I wasn’t 100% sure the waiter yelled « move the menu » at me when I thought he would be taking our orders first. It made me feel uncomfortable and later proceeded being aggressive. My partner ordered drinks first and the server rudely said to order the meal first then drinks.
