Deeply saddned the place closed. Was my favorite go to for tasty generous meals. My daughter with autism who lives for their Mapo Tofu doesn't understand they are closed now :( it might be impossible to find another Mapo Tofu my daughter loved so much. This place held a special place in our family for take out evenings. We've tried tons of other Chinese restos and none seem to get the Mapo Tofu good nor the rice and flavors we loved the first time we ever ate there. I read the new occupants were rude to the owners of the restaurant and it makes me so angry as they were the sweetest couple ever. Thank you for making some core memories for our family. We dearly miss your dishes and sweet and kind servuce yoir provided 💔 please open another location in a more exposed area as you deserve the success that specific spot possibly didn't give you! Miss your resto now.
Came in to eat today; love how CLEAN the space is and how prompt and professional service from the server/owner. Very helpful and kind.
We ordered a feast today to kick off the holidays. Shrimps in lobster sauce 9/10. Pad thai 9/10. Cantonese Chow Mein 5/10 because it only had a couple pieces of chicken, no pork and 2 shrimps with too many vegetables - much less than the first time at 18$ for the plate, would like to see more generous portions of meat though the taste is 10/10. The corn and chicken soup is 8/10. Salt and pepper shrimps are good 8/10. Salt and pepper squid 8/10. The breading on the salt and pepper seafood could be more crispy like at Star Noodle downtown who boasts the best in Montreal for salt and pepper squid and shrimp. The complimentary chicken fried rice is 8/10. Their shrimp, pork and beef fried rice is much better which is 10/10. Our favorite chinese fare resto in cote des neiges. Keep up the amazing flavor and quality though the meat portions were lacking much today, it doesnt take away from the amazing flavors. Thank you once again for wonderful food...
Read moreI eat Chinese food about 1-2/month regularly with a couple of friends. We try different places all the time to rate and judge. I am a restaurateur as well, so I am fairly critical. Sing Fai surprised me. The neighbourhood is quite dilapidated; garbage strewn on the street, vagrants fighting, very poor lighting, etc. Once at the restaurant, the decor is makeshift, ill-conceived and at the budget's end. Dried-up flower pots, plastic curtain at the register, bright white lighting. We were the only people dining there the entire service. However, it was clean.
It all belies the treat that awaits you at the table. Friendly service ready to cater to your every need. Our server was smiling, attentive and easy to talk to. Mind you, we were the only ones there. The food was great! We were all very pleasantly surprised as each dish came to our table. The salt & Pepper shrimp & Pork both had nice crispy light and tasty batters. The blackbean beef wasn't overly salty, beef chowmein was spot-on, the veg fried rice was light fluffy & had very fresh veggies. General tao breading was a tad to thick, but the sauce was quite good. All-in-all we were all very pleased with our meals and look forward to going back. Also, each dish was 10-15% less than in Chinatown, but worth 10-15%...
Read moreMy wife and I went for dinner on Sunday Dec 10. The food was fresh and the portions were quite large. The lady serving us was friendly, however; and this is when the bad experience started. We got the bill for $56.20 and when we handed her $60.00 cash, she demanded $2.00 extra for the tip but we were going to leave $5.00 extra on the table when we leave. She thought we would just leave $4.00 she went away chuckling dissaproving of the tip amount without even knowing we're leaving extra cash. It's the first time this ever happens to us, and they ALWAYS give us the change and then we leave the tip which is usually 15%+. So, a word of advise to all of you who will be eating at this place, beware of the tip tantrum...
