I have been coming to this restaurant shortly after it opened. By far one of the best places in the city for fresh seafood from their in house seafood store, but also freshly prepared in multiple cooking methods according the a clients preference. Their menue these days blends the Middle East with Mediterranean with a leaning to a leaning toward Lebanese food. So why not 5 stars instead of 4? Simple - I do not believe that the price is commensurate with the product. The product is good quality for sure and fresh for sure, but far too many times have I ordered the chicken and it was dry. Moreover, I find that the quantity to be a little less than it should be as well on numerous items. Now this could be because they have a captive market and an audience that fully accepts this, but for me I look at it in a fair manner for all audiences who’ve not been here. So, this being stated the decor is simple yet classy and the only flaw to this is the noise level as there is nothing to absorb sound at all. The staff are lovely though there are times where some have a difficult understanding and communicating in English and even French at times. The presentation is great and the seasoning of all the foods ( I have at this point tried everything on the menu), and tastes delicious to say the least. Obviously their edge is with their amazing seafood and fish products and although pricy, they are delicious and if you don’t mind price - go for it you won’t be let down at all. Their desserts are also delicious as noted in my photos and also a list, fattoush salad, and one of the best babaganoush in the city bar none. You might also find their shrimp plate to be exceptional as well as the little lightly breaded and fried fish (forget the type), and their foul is like being in the Middle East. Oddly enough, their (white) creamy clam chowder is chock full of clams and you’ll want another bowl for sure as it rivals those from Boston. Service is very good and they do take care of you. It can be problematic when there are large table groups as the servers tend to favour these large groups more than a small table of two to four people. I suppose it may have to do with the size of the bill and associated tip but I can’t blame the services for this as most servers would likely do the same. So to avoid this a little, I prefer to go earlier before the place gets too busy and noisy - say around 5:00 pm and no later than 5:45. By the time you’re done your meal it will have filled up and become noisy. Don’t forget to have desert such as their chocolate cake, their baklava and their amazing cheese cake. Their wine and alcohol selection is rock solid and should please even the discerning connoisseur. Hope you enjoy eating here as much as we/I have over the years and will continue to...
Read moreIf I could leave -1000 stars that is what I would leave. I came to celebrate MY 31st birthday and the server could not careless, no attention was given to me or my guests we were given a bad table for a group of 12 that i had booked a week in advance . The staff and the waiters were very dismissive of me (birthday girl) , it took them an hour just to serve us water and bring menus knowing the kitchen closed at 10 and we arrived at 8pm .. refusing to take my order first because the waiter he wanted to follow the order of the seats on his paper. Then 3 of us decided to change seats and the server freaked out and said to one of us that he would not serve us if we didn't go to our original seating. We complained to management and they tried to diffuse the situation but then we came to found out our orders weren't sent in and the kitchen was closed so we waited 2 hours to then know i wasn’t going to have dinner.. i cried. They didn’t care. Again, the management and other waiters tried to make it up to us and brought out some disgusting old cold food, along with missing plates that weren't available anymore kibbeh nayyeh and for the most part, it wasn't good, it was dry and overcooked and flavorless. Then the previous server we had came to clear the table and judged/disrespected/insulted me infront of my family with a comment that no person who works in the hospitality should ever say to a guest. I cried again.. At that point we had had enough and we didn't wanna spend another minute there and ended up not having the cake my mother had brought.
I chose this place thinking it would be an amazing classy experience and nothing would go wrong. They ruined my birthday with no remorse. From the moment i walked in we were disrespected, dismissed, insulted.. I’ve never felt so bad in my life. They didn’t even care to fix anything. This place should close down or get a new staff. Ruined my birthday!!!!! I will...
Read moreWe came on Monday evening for our anniversary. Considering It's high end, the service was not professional. Our waiter ( with a whiff of arrogance) did not explain the menu well. When ordered kebba meatballs, he asked "three, six, or nine?", assuming we know it has to be order by number but we don't. So here we were chasing each other with more questions on how the menu works. We were thirsty from the walk so we wanted to order some beer for the start. Our waiter again said "we have Molson, Coors or imported HEINEKEN!" not even local drafts like Boreal, He didn't even recommend us to some cocktails or wine instead. So we had to ask for a few more minute to pick our white wine. I got it. It's a seafood restaurant that caters to wine. The waiter did not bother recommending any of it despite the impressive wine list. Our food choice were Sayadieh and Fish & Chip (see pictures). Sayadieh (cod) fillets were thick and plump but extremely salty, the rice can't even offset its saltiness. It was almost like we have to order a side of salad. That is if you wanna spend more. There were more batter than fish in Fish & Chip. The meatballs were on a bed of wilted lettuce. Overall, had we been guided toward what more suitable for us. It would have been a pleasant dining experience as other staffs were attentive, the white wine was exquisite and the atmosphere was calm...
