Long review ahead, but TLDR; this is a fantastic place for scones, lunch, afternoon tea, a date, a catch-up with friends, or a nice solo-date. Scones 11/10 with the best spreads and mixed teas. Photos ft Afternoon Tea with scones (new jam and plating), English breakfast tea mixed with a berry tea, and afternoon tea with yummy sandwiches and an assortment of desserts! We moved tables after a big group came, but it was fine!

Long review: Absolutely LOVE this place. I've been going since 2019 and will always keep coming back. My first impression in 2019 was how warm and homey the place felt. Ciaran, the guy working the floor and the register at the time, was such a lovely presence, and always offered an extra scone after I had excitedly finished my first two haha. BEST SCONES, hands down.

After the early years of the pandemic, I stopped seeing Ciaran there, and instead met Kate and Donna! I hope I'm getting the names right. Donna is a star and approached my partner and I when we were speaking, maybe a little too loudly haha, about wanting to recreate their lemon curd at home! She told us all that was in it without sharing secrets, and it was just so lovely. Again, I feel so at home with how friendly and casual the staff is :)

Kate is ever lovely and brings an extra spot of brightness! I often overhear her speaking with the elderly customers, calling them by their first names, and really bringing that hospitality and personal touch. Most recently, she handled my booking through Google actually! When we got there, there was a mixup with the booking, with her knowing we had reserved, but we weren't in the system. Despite this, we did some Tetris with the tables, and it all worked out! Should have been stressful, but she made it lovely for my last litte date with my partner before I traveled to Asia for a few months without him!

All in all, lovely place. Great food with a limited and rotating menu, great service, super cute interior design, jams and food available to go or for purchase, and an always fun afternoon tea session. Smoked salmon appetizer is fantastic. Mix the sweet cream and caramel, sweet cream and lemon curd, and be sure to ask for more! I preferred the peach whisky jam over the new spiced one, but the new triple berry jam is great!

I'll be back when I'm back from Asia, and I'll bring...

We came here for the afternoon tea today for my friend's birthday. The service was really wonderful and the cafe is really cozy. I don't understand the few snobby reviews of the afternoon tea service. I wasn't expecting a super high end hotel tea service (though it was my first time having an afternoon tea anywhere), and that was kind of the point. It was really good value for the amount of food we received while still being accessible for our budget.

On to the food...the highlights for me were the scones and the desserts. Every bite was phenomenal and we loved the assortment of different toppings for the scones. The brownies were amazing. The sandwiches and salmon and veggie cups were great too. I enjoyed every bite of food I had.

They did forget to write a little happy birthday for our friend, but we were enjoying ourselves so much we didn't even notice. The waiter very cleverly asked us which scone toppings we preferred under the guise of curiosity, but they apologized for forgetting the birthday and sent each of us home with an extra scone and cookie and our respective favorite topping. Totally unexpected and unnecessary, but we really appreciated it a lot. I can't wait to come back for a date with my boyfriend (who really enjoyed the food I brought home). Thank you for a really lovely afternoon!

My only suggestion would be to list the hours of the tea service online - it would have been useful to have this...

Disappointed! Not at the restaurant, but at myself for not having done my research enough for an afternoon tea place.

The food that are served for an afternoon tea comes as no surprise for me: typical choice of tea, a couple of scones with clotted cream, jam and marmelade, crustless finger sandwiches and a random assortment of bite-sized sweet pastries. I expected to get these and I got them.

However, I was not expecting a cloth less table top. Perhaps, now is the time to upgrade the bread basket in which the scones are served, and use linen napkins instead.

My expectation of having afternoon tea is having tea poured from silver/fine china tea pots into delicate bone china cups. I was expecting an elegant 3-tiered serving plates, and dazzling silver cutlery over a white linen table top. All these form part of THE meal for a very special occasion. We got none of that. This is a very small place with tables size not big enough to have an afternoon tea for 4 people.

I have to give credit for service, which was not outstanding, but the average polite and courteous kind.

Food was good and fresh, but nothing spectacular as these are just egg & mayo sandwiches with thinly sliced cucumber, regular scones and sweet pastries. There is just absolutely no way to get this wrong. Tea selection is average and can be bought at the local supermarket, with hot chocolate and caramel milk...

If you’re looking for a lovely afternoon tea in Montreal, then you’ve definitely come to the right place, rest assured you will not be disappointed at all, let’s start: 1. We were served first with lovely fluffy scones and a selection from a variety of teas (I took apple pie, she took cream of Earl Grey). They also have gluten free scones which was appreciated (notify them when making reservations). The choice of 6 toppings (butter, cream, triple berry jam, marmalade jam, bourbon caramel, and lemon curd). EVERYTHING was delicious. We could have asked for more, but we saved space for the savoury round coming up next. 2. We had each gluten free selection and non-gluten free, it had: first layer: salmon quiches; Second layer: cucumber sandwiches, each sandwiches; Third layer: cheese cakes, shortbread cookie, cookie cake, butter tarts, and fresh fruit. Everything was fresh and we especially loved the cheese cakes. 3. We were so full and satisfied. Definitely, this will become a tradition for us to come to this place. 4. The staff were so personable and took time to chat with us, they were so friendly and welcoming and offered us the gluten free goodies to take home. You’ll see in the third picture that we ate everything!!! I would give 100 star rating if I could.
