This restaurant didn't live up to it's reviews. We left our name and number to be called for a table with an estimated 10 min wait. We sat across the street and after 25 minutes of waiting and watching many people walk in and get tables we went to see what was up. They forgot to call us... they apologized but that's pretty lame to not have a system in place. I tried the octopus and it was under-seasoned and only tasted of bitter char from the grill. The truffle gnocchi was supremely disappointing - it only tasted of truffle oil and the mushrooms were large, rubbery pieces (only button and maybe portebello). These don't taste like freshly made in-house gnocchi either - like the kind you buy at the store - all uniform ovals. It was evident I didn't like it and our waiter asked "you don't like it?" When I said "no" he laughed and walked away. To try and tone down the overpowering taste of truffle oil I asked another waitress if I could have a few tablespoons of tomato sauce on the side. She gladly went to get some and only after adding it to the dish did I realize they gave me cold tomato sauce. I stopped her and said "it's cold" and she said "yeah, they would have had to warm it up for you in a pan just for that bit of sauce." Only after my date's dish was cleared and my barely eaten dish sat in front of me did one of the owners stop and ask if I didn't like it. He insisted I get something else which was nice but came too late to really be appreciated. Our waiter should have offered 20 minutes earlier when he asked if I didn't like it. We tried the spaghetti bolognese which was ok - the pasta was a bit overcooked so not good to order if you like al dente pasta. My date's cavatelli was the best dish we tasted and we did like the green salads that...

I went to this place with my friend who was not in the mood of eating, but I wanted to drink and eat something. As we sat in the outdoor area of this place, I told the waiter that I dragged my friend to come here but she only wanted coffee. I ordered beer and calamari. I even asked him to leave the menu as that was the order FOR NOW. While I was eating and drinking and chatting with my friend,, another friend of ours was passing by in Monkland so I asked her to join us. She said she was not planning to eat right away as she just finished work. I explained that I ordered hors-d'œuvre but we would eat a bit later together, the three of us. She joined us even though tired working a long Saturday in the hospital. She said she needed something to wake up but no alcohol as she was driving. I ordered coffee for her. I was half way through my calamari that we started talking about eating there and choosing our food. This is when the waiter came to the table and said : I'm very sorry but this place is not a coffee place and I want you to leave as soon as possible because we have other people waiting to be seated!!!!! When he left, the three of us looked at the people waiting :two adults and a baby and the table besides us just got cleared and cleaned. We were so insulted. I could not forgive myself for bringing my friends to this place. We left immediately. I still have the half of the calamari from yesterday. I have never been treated so bad.. And I have never been so embarrassed in front of my friends. So you guys, if you don't want to be insulted, eat with a big fat bill because my $40 bill wasn't good enough for them. I will never go back and I make sure I share my story on every single social media. I'm truly insulted and hurt and...

OUTSTANDING. Sounds nutty but, this place set the bar for me for what I want for Italian food. This was one of the places my wife and I were looking forward to trying on our short visit to Montreal from NY.. and it exceeded all expectations X10.

FRITTO MISTO - Hands down the based calamari/fried seafood I've ever had at an Italian restaurant. Other google reviewers' photos tell the truth: barely-there light breading, plus extremely fresh seafood cooked perfectly, perfect sauce to complement. PUTTANESCA - First bite, you get the taste of olives, and then everything else, and its just done so right. Pasta cooked perfectly, sauce is amazing. POLPETTE di AMERIGO (3 Braised Veal Meatballs) - So glad we added this to our order.. very delicately cooked and sauce is light with tons of flavor. Can't imagine the work going into making this dish without any flaws as it was served.

This restaurant was seriously something else... I really hope it doesn't change, and is a DEFINITE to come back to/recommend.

As I was eating here I thought.. this place has perfected/combined, 1. The taste of "grandmas cooking", with utmost delicate attention + 2. Made in a very controlled manner so I could imagine it being predictably very good every time. Yet price is reasonable.

Also just last comment.. staff, the young women working the front/serving, were sweet, and attentive. Really caring, you can tell they have pride in the food and restaurant, and customers' experience. My wife and I couldn't get over how friendly the servers/workers were the whole time. I wish you all the best! Places like this are hard to find. To the mgr/owner, your workers are outstanding, and we absolutely enjoyed dining at your...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I stumbled upon Bistro Ameriko recently, and I have to say, it’s a gem in Montreal’s dining scene. One of the things that immediately caught my eye was that they offer vongole, which is surprisingly hard to find around here. Naturally, I had to give it a try, and I was not disappointed! The vongole was everything I hoped for – perfectly cooked pasta with a delicate, briny broth that really let the clams shine. It had just the right balance of garlic and white wine, and every bite transported me to the Italian coast. It’s not easy to find a place in Montreal that does vongole right, but Bistro Ameriko nails it. For lunch, they also serve a simple green salad when you order one of their mains. While the salad isn’t fancy, it’s a nice touch – crisp greens with a light vinaigrette that complements the meal without overpowering it. It’s a thoughtful inclusion that rounds out the plate. I also tried their fungus pasta, and wow – it was packed with earthy, umami-rich flavors. The mushrooms were cooked to perfection, and the sauce clung to the pasta beautifully, delivering a satisfying, hearty bite every time. It’s a dish I’ll definitely be coming back for. Overall, the atmosphere at Bistro Ameriko is warm and inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed lunch or dinner. The service is friendly, and it’s clear that they put a lot of care into their food. I’m already planning my next visit – there’s so much more on the menu I want to explore. If you’re in Montreal and looking for a place that offers both classic favorites and hard-to-find gems like vongole, Bistro Ameriko is absolutely worth a visit.

If you truly appreciate Italian cuisine, do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS PLACE. As someone who genuinely enjoys and respects Italian food, my experience here was nothing short of disappointing—borderline disrespectful, in fact. I ordered the Polpette e Patatine. The meatballs were lukewarm at best—bland and forgettable. But the real offense was the patatine: what I received looked and tasted like the burnt scraps from the bottom of a deep fryer. They were greasy, overcooked, and honestly inedible. If you care about your health—or your taste buds—don’t even think about ordering them. Naturally, I sent the dish back. No apology was offered. Instead, the man behind the bar (possibly the owner?) condescendingly explained that “that’s just how the dish is.” Well, if burnt oil and soggy scraps are part of the recipe, then I suggest rethinking the recipe. To make matters worse, when I asked for the bill, they still charged me for the dish I returned. The excuse? “There was nothing wrong with it, you just didn’t like it.” Not only is that poor customer service—it’s dishonest. I’ve dined all over the world, and this is the first time I’ve ever been charged for something I sent back untouched. No attempt was made to offer an alternative, or even a basic gesture of hospitality. Just the bill and a dismissive attitude. For someone who carries himself with such unwarranted arrogance, I expected a far superior experience. Instead, I got subpar food and an even worse attitude. NEVER AGAIN.
