Not a very good Tim's: This is the only coffee place on my morning commute and I do without, because of unappealing experiences. The staff is generally friendly, but the service is a real mixed bag (and I've worked in coffee franchises growing up).
To be certain, Tim Horton's isn't a positive coffee shop franchise in general. Putting completely aside : Their use of temporary foreign workers, their fraudulent Canadian branding, the sludge they call coffee, the powdered modified milk tripe their machines regurgitate for their "lattes", and their generally awful shipped frozen food items, this Tim's has some special problems all on its own.
Because the only place in Verdun allowed to have a drive-thru is the (somehow more terrible) McDonald's on Lasalle, this Tim's is a nightmare to be physically around. Cars pulling off of Lasalle and Galt into the microscopic parking of this Tim's are constantly blocking the flow of motorist, cyclist and pedestrian traffic and make that end of Galt an anarchy zone---in more than one sense. Winding through it is a curious regular gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts, retirees and the motorized disability crowd. This Tim's clearly has its fan club, and the landscaping tilled with mounds of cigarette butts, botched campfires and broken glass to match it. But they're friendly people and I like seeing them, and am sad the lot next door will be turned into a condominium development because those groups are inevitably going to clash. This is why you should go to public development consultations, citizens.
But enough about the "scene" , these guys have either gotten my orders wrong or have served me stuff that is just plain unsafe. I have gotten the odd filet-o-fish that was cold in the middle from the McDo up the road, but that doesn't compare to the prep mistakes I've had here. "How?" Some of you might be wondering, they serve doughnuts and bagels, right?
Apart from their often stale donuts and forgetting-but-charging for cheese on gross starchy bagels on a regular basis; At some point Tim Hortons decided it wanted to get into the "chicken sandwich" market and I ordered a "spicy crispy chicken wrap" from them. My mistake, right? There was nothing crispy about it. I had a thawed out wrap with the chicken all gloopy in liquid dough inside of it. I spat out the miserable bite into a napkin and made the walk back up Galt and had to re-queue. Oh yeah, because there's no drive thru the lines here are always enormous, but this tube of paste and broken dreams cost seven dollars! After we inspected the wrap (they did a full autopsy) they realized that the prep method for this required...you know...cooking the actual thing. They offered me another one.
Like no? If you don't know how to do the food prep for this 7$ item, why offer me another one? Unless you're a die-hard fan of their hot black water they LARP is coffee, don't. The slow service at the McDonald's will give you better coffee. If you're coming from upper Lasalle there's also a lovely depannaur on Gordon and Lasalle that sells blonde and columbian roast Van Houtte coffee with super-fast service, fresh fruit, and all the fixings. And if you're not in a rush and want a nice cafe experience, there's Sweet Lee's and Cafe W on wellington. I recommend the skilled latte's from SL's and the rich Mokas from Cafe W.
Two stars because I know this Tim's takes good care of its sit-down crowd. But not its morning-to-work people. If you have somewhere to be, grab your coffee from a metro kiosk (the Wellington entrance of Galt also has a dep that serves...
Read moreWent on monday, Dec4th at 7:20 pm) to get 3 dougnuts, I got home with them to see the guy WAS NOT LISTENING and gave me 3 I never asked for and all were NOT fresh.
Went back today(dec.5th at 5:20 pm) hoping I'm get the coveted chocolate and Maple bostons I didn't get the first time. The girl at the cash was alright but could not give a flying fig about what anyone including me was telling her. Total look of indifference which isn't appealing in any business. Like, try to care A LITTLE about the customer..just A LITTLE and SMILE.. I know its hard to do that all day, all the time but TRY A LITTLE.
When it was my turn, she at least knew what a boston cream doughnut was compared to the guy the previous night who billed me that yet gave me inferior quality products. Today, she gave me what she could, the order was almost correct.
What was disappointing this time is that "Always fresh" isn't the case at this timmies. FURTHERMORE, they were out of just about everything including most of the essentials that people always buy like chocolate cream bostons..all the doughnut racks were EMPTY and products looked tired. They didn't even bake more( these employes DO NOT verify the dougnut racks. Once half the tray shown to the client is gone, time to bake more. You can't wait for them to be all gone). The lack of organization is HORRIBLE here. They all give the impression of not caring at all about where they work and that's so sad. None of them give a fig. Why were 2 out of 3 cashier stations closed????????????
How the hell can we buy 12 doughnuts in this case??? Will timmies be selling boxes of compressed air next?? This timmies..it needs fixing in so many ways. THERE WAS ZERO VARIETY ON MY VISIT TODAY. There were only 2 Maple custard creams left and took those away leaving all the other customers with NOTHING to buy. I felt horrible about that but this wouldn't happen if they were doing their jobs properly.
I understand working at Tim Hortons isn't easy or a luxury job. I get that you have to get the employes you can get. Sure. BUT they need more training, how to be polite with people, verifying the order with the client and maintaining product so customers can buy.. these people are doing what they can but are obviously not being trained properly and this makes all other Tim Hortons look bad in terms of repute.
They need a manager from morning to night every day with them and learn to verify if they have enough product to avoid any disgruntled customers or bad experiences. I have noticed a steady decline in quality goods and services since this last summer.
Before they give a box of doughnuts to anyone closed, it should be a rule they open the box and verify with the client before calling it a day. THIS TIM HORTONS ALWAYS CONFUSES REGULAR DOUGHNUTS WITH CUSTARD CREAM ONES. You have to litterally babysit them and knock on the window to show them the right doughnut to put in the box.
EXPECT this to happen again until management cleans up here but seeing all the complaints mount up, I have little hope of any improvement.
Instead of asking us to call a number and voice our insatifaction to "make it right", waste more time to fill out a complaint with a preformated answer, what about cutting the nonsense and telling us EXACTLY how, step by step you will resolve the issues??? If you do care make actions more powerful than words. Feel free to tell me of all the steps IN DETAIL you will do concretely to resolve...

I recently visited Tim Hortons with high hopes for a delicious breakfast to start my day. However, my experience turned out to be incredibly disappointing, to say the least. The highlight of my discontent was the appalling serving of a spoiled English muffin with egg and cheese.
From the moment I received my order, something seemed off. The English muffin appeared discolored and emitted a distinctly unpleasant odor. Ignoring my initial concerns, I proceeded to take a bite, only to be met with a taste that could only be described as rancid. It was evident that the muffin had passed its expiration date long before it ended up on my plate.
The presence of spoiled food is not only a breach of basic hygiene standards but also a severe disappointment for customers who trust Tim Hortons to provide fresh and enjoyable meals. The lack of quality control displayed by the staff is deeply concerning and raises questions about their commitment to maintaining high standards.
Beyond the spoiled muffin, I was also disheartened by the overall lack of attention to detail in the preparation of my order. The cheese and egg were carelessly thrown together without any thought to presentation or taste. It was clear that little effort was put into ensuring a satisfying customer experience.
When I brought the issue to the attention of the staff, their response was less than satisfactory. They appeared dismissive and disinterested, failing to acknowledge the severity of the situation. Their lack of concern only added to my frustration and solidified my decision to share my experience.
As a loyal customer of Tim Hortons, I had expected better. It is disheartening to witness such a decline in the quality of their offerings and the level of service provided. Spoiled food should never find its way onto a customer's plate, and the staff's apathetic response only compounds the issue.
I hope that Tim Hortons takes immediate action to rectify these shortcomings and reestablishes their commitment to delivering fresh, delicious meals. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend Tim Hortons to anyone seeking a satisfying...
