Definitely the best typical Colombian food in a restaurant outside Colombia. If you are looking for the flavor, texture and aromas of Colombian food this is the place. When traveling I always look to see if there are Colombian food restaurants in the area since where I reside there aren’t any Latin food places. Tostadito is a small eatery that Simply put brings me to a home made meal back in Colombia. The flavor in each dish we tried are explosive and tastefully done. From the sale to the sancocho everything was on point. We order the small picada and it comes with everything you expect. Chicharrón to its best ribs, papá criolla, arepa, excellent morcilla, pork meet and so much more. Nothing was over done or greasy at all. Perfectly cooked. The came the sancocho. WOW. Just like the one made by grandma back home. It comes with a massive portion of beef on a side plate with rice and salad the sancocho is not too watery and not too dense. Just perfect. The broth is meaty and so, so flavorful. The corn is the right kind. Not the sweet corn normally found in North America. Yuca and potatoes were done perfectly. They also have a full alcohol bar and all natural juices you expect from Colombia. Tomate de árbol, guanabana. Guayaba. Etc. the staff was extremely kind and eager to provide an excellent service. On top of it ll I purchased buñuelos to go and man. I just had them and they are perfect. The restaurant it’s about 30 minutes from the downtown of Montreal. And yes , there are options closer; but really if you are looking for the best you won’t be disappointed. Come see doña Sandra and her...
Read moreThe big plate: The chicharons served are very well seasoned and crispy. The sausage is very nicely seasonned with unique spices, but on the dry side. The sausage pairs well with the guacamole provided. The frijoles is liquid, which I don't like and it's been the trend in every latino restaurant lately... The minced beef has a subtle taste of spices, but easily gets buried flavor-wise with the rest of the things in this dish. I don't even know what the arepa is supposed to add to this already carb-heavy dish. However, this get you very full.
Arepa: the sandwich fell appart very easily because of the toppings. Difficult to eat. It's basically the breakfast dish but with added cheese. Nothing special.
The rice with beans and pork is very tasty and the crunchyness of the pork skin isna nice add-on for a play in texture and added flavor. However, it is a very dry dish. You will need a lot of water eating this. I don't understand how I'm supposed to eat the arepa in this dish as well. But I did.
The items I tried were so-so, except for the crispy chicharron which was perfection. i wasn't perfectly satisfied though, and this place is super expensive. Those 3 dishes...
