Heard great things about this place from friends who've lived in Greece so decided to try it.
Place is situated in a strip mall and has a big terasse and ample parking. Waitress, cashier and staff were all sweet and friendly. Don't expect much for decor on the exterior as it's a non-permanent patio. They did however have good seating and greenery to make up for it.
We got 3 pork gyro pitas, a greek salad and fries. Fries were excellent, crispy and properly seasoned.
Greek salad had every opportunity of being amazing, and we were excited to finally see a true authentic Greek salad (cucumber, tomato, green peppers, onion, feta and olives) however, there was no green pepper in it when we received it. What a bummer :(
They got extra points for putting fries in the pita, the proper way in greece, however mine just had 3-4 fries. Being the cheaper ingredient, it'd be nice if there a few more. Makes it look richer without costing much. They also lost a point for putting the tzatziki on the meat. That usually causes a mess. Best way is like they do in Greece (pita, tzatziki on pita, tomatoes and onions, then meat, then fries. Pita was good but I'd suggest they oil it a bit when warming it up on the hot plate, if not it's dry.
Hope they read the comments a d improve as I'd love to try them again. Place has every potential in becoming the best gyro place in montreal.
I suggest you get the gyro pita, Greek...
Read moreI've eaten from there three times. First time when it first opened and it was great. Second time was a flop with substantially smaller portions of the same order, so much so that we had to cook afterwards as the portion for four had no food in it. We saw the bottom of the aluminum for how empty it was. Silly me, I tried a third time for benefit of the doubt-even worse. I had to take out the scale for this one and measured 66g of chicken in the 4 person platter, and a handful of fries. No point trying to call or express feedback, as you're constantly told "we're too busy to take your call, try again later". Oddly enough, I tried calling back to place an order and they had time, but subsequently hung up on me. I did not receive what I paid for, and I feel I'm entitled to a full refund. Contacting management is impossible, so I may just file a chargeback on my credit card as I feel I was frauded. I forgot to mention- this was a $79.95 order with...
Read moreI can easily say Usine Grecque provides one of the most cost-effective experiences in Saint-Leonard while maintaining high quality food, a cozy atmosphere, and friendly service.
The portions stood out the most for me - at least compared to other restaurants, there's no chance you will leave hungry or unsatisfied. You would, to a certain extent, be able to share a meal/platter among two people.
I'm a huge fan of chicken in general, so I would recommend the Apollo poutine and/or the chicken Gyro platter. If you're a fan of pork, there's of course the pork equivalents for poutine and gyro platters. I was also surprised with the portion of the calamari entree; I have never in my life been able to share a plate of calamari.
I can certainly say that I will be visiting again whether it's for the calamari, gyro platter, or especially to try out the rest of the menu.
Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a restaurant in the...
