Swiss Chalet — Restaurant in Mount Pearl

Last night I was very disappointed with the service. We were a table of 5. It was very busy, so things such as waiting for a table, waiting for drinks and waiting for food can be excused. However, while we were waiting for our food, no one came to refill our drinks, which could have been done at least once. When our food was brought out we had no cutlery and when the waiter brought it out, we were only given forks. We asked for knives and were told there were none, and they were being washed. We waited almost 5 minutes for knives to be brought to our table. Restaurants should have enough knives for their customers! We all had chicken, and rolls one of us had ribs, and some of us had baked potato. Food should not be brought out unless the utensils are there for me to eat it! 5 minutes is a long time! If fact, the utensils were brought out by one waiter/bus boy and we had to ask our waitress to track down knives.

Overall the food was ok; the chicken was a bit on the dry side.

What angered me next next was, when our table was finished eating the waitress did not ask if we wanted tea, coffee or dessert. She just simply said she would be over with the bills after she took care of her other two tables. I had the intentions of getting dessert, as did at least one other person at our table, but we were not offered. Yes it was a busy night, but by this point thing were calming down and there was no line of people waiting to be seated.

Arrived to be told it was a 30 minute wait which we did not mind. After 40 minutes we were seated. Waited another 15 minutes and no server approached us as I watched others who got seated after us have their drinks served and orders taken. I had to get up and approach another server who said "let me see who owns you". No apologies. Finally a server took our order. Once food was served we were missing out side Ceasar salad to which the response was "oh it was rang in as an app so we assumed you recieber it". Only half of the restaurant was opened as one half had chairs on the tables and lights out. I understand its a long holiday weekend but if you cannot staff the restaurant then maybe it should be take out only. We never recieved any apologies for having to wait so long.
