Delicious and fast! Being extremely hungry after a long day in a park we were happy to discover this place. We were provided a detailed information about the menu. The staff is very friendly and professional. The food is great. On the picture - the First Street Burger (sorry, the pickle is gone 😅)

November 23, 2019. Now this place was the jewel of the trip. A converted town hall into a pub. The towns rich history all over the walls. Amazing friendly staff willing to tell you all about it. Didn't stay for food, but had a couple of drinks. Loved this place and would definitely go back.

Nice decor. Service, waitress talked very softly and super fast which made it difficult to understand her. Food was ok, not bad but nothing that would impress you. Regular pub grub.

I wish we read reviews before trying as we wouldn't have driven 30 minutes to come to this establishment. The photos online made it look really neat- and the online menu seemed very promising. We later found out the establishment sold over a year ago and when we arrived we were disappointed . The atmosphere is really nice; but upon walking in- no one greeted us. We stood for a bit then just helped ourselves to a booth. We weren't sure if we were suppose to or not. There was only 1 waiter working the floor so it seemed under staffed. Only a table of 4 men were already seated with their beers so we figured they were taken care of. It was a quiet Wednesday night. Nothing special or busy/ Our waiter came to ask us what we wanted to drink, we started with water and it arrived promptly . The waiter seemed to be in a hurry and I can only assume under staffed. Then he proceeded to the table of 4 to take their order so I knew it would be a while before he came to us. He took our order , and more people walked in and seated themselves . The food took about 40 mins to come out. I assume only 1 cook . At this point we started reading reviews that said food times were long and food usually comes out cold: so we waited to see. 40 mins later our food came, it was hot and fresh- but not what we ordered. The meals were suppose to come with coleslaw and your choice of a side. I asked for the garlic cheese bread as my side, my husband asked for potato wedges . We both just got regular fries on our plate and neither dish came with coleslaw. The menu was not the same as advertised online, it was missing about 3/4 of the online menu- and many items were crossed off in marker and written on In pen. Our waiter never came by to see how we were doing. So we didn't complain or send food back as we didn't want to wait any longer for meals. The food was good tho. Very delicious! When my husband was served his dish- he ordered a cocktail off the menu- but it didn't come until he was finished his entire meal. The drink came in a tall beer pint glass full of ice and tasted super watery- we emptied the ice out and the glass was now only 1/4 full with the actual drink. Then we were able to stir it properly and enjoy. It was an okay drink. Waiter finally came to give bill , and husband told him the food wasn't exactly what we ordered/ he apologized and said it was his fault and he would give $10 off the bill. He brought the bill back in a timely manner and we paid. Upon further calculation ; we only got $6 off the bill not $10. In the end we won't be coming back. We're happy we gave it a try but found the management / staffing and...

Worst restaurant meal I ever!

And that is saying a lot since I am 65 and I have lived a lot of years and eaten in a lot of restaurants.

The service was fine, the poor quality of the food was not the server’s fault, although it would have been nice if she brought the cutlery before our food came since most people like to commence eating as soon as their food arrives, of course in this a case a delay or avoidance altogether would have been preferred.

I selected the restaurant based on their menu posted online. It looked good, I did not read any reviews. As soon as the menu was delivered I noted the discrepancies between what was posted online and what was listed on the in-house menu. There is a lot of items missing. When I mentioned this fact to our server she said, “Yes, there is a different menu floating around online somewhere”. Well, it was not floating online, it is posted as part of the restaurant home page. Honestly, how hard it is too update a webpage. I think the unprofessional look of their webpage should have been my first clue as to the lack of professionalism and care they take into preparing and serving food.

The food was awful, I ended up ordering a kids meal since nothing else appealed to me. I had mac and cheese and chicken bites with a side salad. My husband had a burger and fries and we each had a 6 ounce glass of the worst Cabernet Sauvignon I have ever tasted. Thankfully it only came in 6 ounce because I normally order a 9 and 9 ounces of that would have been awful.

The chicken bites were not exactly chicken, it did not look like chicken or taste like chicken, it was little balls of bad tasting mystery. My guess it was mechanically de-boned chicken mixed with filler and then battered and deep fried. The was no sauce, I think it was supposed to come with sauce but no arrived, not that dipping sauce could have saved it. The macaroni and cheese looked like Kraft dinner that was loaded with cheese and baked in the oven. Not much flavour other than the cheese on top. The salad was pathetic, and I can’t believe I paid for it. Just a little romaine with diced tomato and red pepper, no cucumbers, onions, nuts, seeds nothing to add a little taste or crunch. My husband said is burger was tasteless, there was sauce but it was dolloped in the middle and he never realized it was there until one bite spreads it around….I mean come on, how difficult is it to use a knife or spatula and spread that sauce around. The fries which are usually pretty fool proof where not warm.

So, totally amateurish, I still I am in shock that I had to pay for...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the newly opened Whistling Donkey Pub and Lounge during my recent visit to Souris. Situated conveniently in the heart of the town with ample parking, the restaurant offers both accessibility and charm.

From the moment I stepped inside, I was impressed by the inviting interior and ambiance of the lounge. The spacious layout and tasteful decor create a clean and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a meal or relaxing with friends.

The service at Whistling Donkey was exemplary. Although I regrettably didn't catch our server's name, they went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of excellent. They checked on us multiple times throughout the meal, ensuring we were well taken care of.

The food itself was a highlight of the evening. Each dish we ordered was not only delicious but also served in generous portions and piping hot. It was evident that the ingredients were fresh, and the kitchen took care in preparing each meal to perfection.

In addition to the dining experience, Whistling Donkey offers entertainment options such as a pool table and entertainment area, adding to the overall appeal of the establishment.

Overall, my visit to Whistling Donkey Pub and Lounge was a delightful one, and it's undoubtedly a standout spot in this quaint town. I look forward to returning, especially if I find myself on the...
