Rant alert!

Went in today to pick up my usual order and was left very disappointed.

After having used the till, and touching who knows what else, the worker bagged my food order with his bare hands. . No paper sheet-thingy, just dirty fingers directly on the food. One can assume with that kind of carelessness he likely hadn't washed his hands recently.

Perhaps the owner/manager should have a refresher meeting with their staff to go over the most basic of food handling precautions...and then maybe kick the safety up a notch for that pesky thing that's got the world turned upside down- covid-19.

I love bodhi's, but until covid is behind us, I'll be avoiding places like this.. what if dude was unknowingly sick while bagging hundreds of orders? I'd hate to bring covid home to my loved ones..

Bottom line- who uses bare hands to bag pastries after...

Delicious baked goods. We have been here several times in the past few weeks and the woman running the front counter has been incredibly rude each time to every customer we have seen her interact with. None of the items are marked with labels or prices which makes ordering very difficult, and then they argue with you if you call the item by the wrong name. They also do not accept credit card and a small sign to state that would be appreciated.

The bakery items were great and I would return to have them again, but I would hesitate to recommend to anyone else and I surely would not sit inside...

I live in Ontario, but travel back-and-forth to Nanaimo about four times a year to visit family and this is always my first stop on my first morning. They make one of the very best Americanos I get anywhere on the island! Their sourdough is also some of the best and my favourite is the garlic Asiago. When I’m back in Ontario, I dream about their chocolate croissants and they are some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. This place is a hidden gem, but quickly becoming not so hidden so make sure you get there early or you’ll be...

Like everyone else I love their bread. I wanted to try something different so asked for a white bread, non-sourdough, with a nice chew. The nice young man recommended Working Man White, which was exactly what I was craving. Should have gotten 2 loaves, finished half the loaf by suppertime. Also got a cinnamon bun, pretty good, lots of syrup, big enough for the two of us, and butter tarts, also pretty good, huge, looked like hand pies. I keep asking for spelt bread but have to order that ahead of time, may do that next time.

Maybe I caught them on an off day, but the regular croissants were a little dark and overcooked. Also, the ham on the ham & cheese croissant was excessive; it’s cubed and super pork-y, not really what you’d expect or want for breakfast unless you’re a real farmer type. On the other hand, the almond croissant with frangipane was great. Would’ve been moister and quite outstanding if it was taken out of the oven a tad sooner. The younger staff members who were running the shop weren’t particularly friendly or courteous.
