Very unwelcoming and hostile staff if you're not a regular client!

I went to this coffee shop to have some work done on my laptop after my doctor's appointment not knowing they have a policy in place against laptops before 2pm. I've lived in big cities like Vancouver and Montreal and I've never even seen anything this, even in busy coffee shops. The staff waited until I was seated with my coffee to tell me about their policy. I should add that I put my laptop on the table and asked for the Wi-Fi password before ordering. There were only 20 minutes left before laptops were allowed, but the staff insisted I couldn't use it until after 2pm. She even implied she could reimburse me for the coffee and that I could leave. She also added that this was the busiest time of the day even though there were a couple of tables that were not taken. I do not recommend going there specially if you're new to the place or if you need to use your laptop.

Notes to the manager: You should be more clear about your policy before selling anything to the customers. Not everyone is going to read the multiple signs posted in your coffee shop. New clients are obviously not aware of your policies. Be more understanding the 1st time if you want them...

I can’t rave enough about this amazing little coffee shop that serves breakfast/lunches/and other little goodies.. the setting is one of comfort and feels like good family. They also get to know you by personal first name, (if you wish), and a big greeting when visit, and a good-bye when you leave, ... so clean and inviting! Has a section with umbrellas to sit outside.. such a great feeling when go there; even specially trained barista/s. I love the barista designs; so just something I take notice of when art is presented in a cup! Keep this one on your radar; don’t pass this one up.. right across from the Nanaimo city’s best, Longwood Brew Pub, Nanaimo north end... Carol Ann Kellar...

I have never been treated so rudely at any establishment before in my life. I has just brought my injured dog to emergency pet care, hadn't eaten a thing and peaked into Cafe Today hoping to sit down, relax and order something. Before ordered, I used their bathroom. A woman followed me to the bathroom, attempted to open the door while I was using it and was standing outside when I came out to tell me that it was not a public bathroom. Meanwhile she told my friend who was waiting to sit down & order or get out. This rude behavior was completely unnecessary & I will never set foot in that...
