5 stars all around. Here's why. This being a "chicken chain" franchise, I had honestly been avoiding it since it first opened because I prefer independent places and I'm not really a chicken guy.
Atmosphere: I came in just at the tail end of a busy rush with the restaurant about 75% full. In spite of this, many empty tables were already cleaned and ready, which is a pleasant rare find. The layout is untypical. It's very bright and very open. Everybody can clearly see everybody else. I'm not terribly sociable but for those who prefer being "out among the people" rather than hiding away, you might dig this. I was in a comfy booth.
Food: I had a denver sandwich, coleslaw and coffee. The coffee alone gets 5 stars. Denver was a typical denver which is good. Coleslaw was better than most. Dessert: Obviously a slice of pie. There are 5 or 6 different kinds of homemade pie ready to serve... (at a "chain restaurant"?) Delicious! Price/portions? Fair/average/reasonable.
Service: 6 stars. Best service I've had anywhere in probably a year or more, and I'm a truck driver so I've been in a lot of restaurants. Receipt says it was "Jessica". From what I could see, there were only 3 or maybe 4 servers working, and like I said, it was at the tail-end of a rush. I was a table of 1, not a large group. Small order, small potential tip. Doesn't matter. All by myself, I was treated like a king. Super attentive service, always checking in. No waiting for anything at any point. Small coffee cups here. Doesn't matter. They're on top of it.
I highly recommend this restaurant, and will be looking forward to eating at Neepawa Chicken Chef many more times...
Read moreThis is an update to my original review 2 years ago. This restaurant used to be called the Chicken Corral ever since I was born and was independently owned and operated. Over the last 2 years this place has definitively improved. The prices are now more in line with inflation. The customer service has drastically improved. The table availability has improved even when it is busy. The time from food order to the plate arriving to the table has rapidly speeded up. It's like maybe 10 minutes max, even when it's busy. They also hired a lot of new staff and they are of an efficiency mindset. It definitely deserves an updated rating from my 3 star review 2 years ago. It is...
Read moreMy recent visit to this restaurant was really disappointing. The food was okay, but nothing special. The real problem was the service. It was obvious that the waitstaff were focusing on older customers, probably just to get bigger tips. They barely paid attention to us, didn't ask if we were enjoying our meal, and made us feel completely ignored.
This kind of service is unacceptable. It felt like we didn't matter as customers, and that’s a big issue. I hope management takes this seriously and makes some changes. Until then, I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It...
