We went Saturday for supper and selected the Buffet. Wonton soup lacked flavour. Dry garlic spareribs weren't cooked slowly and long enough; therefor, they were tough and dry. Not fall off the bone, the way they should. Fried rice was bland. Lemon chicken nuggets were tiny and "almost" rock hard along with the other tiny nugget dish. I think it was sweet and sour chicken. Egg rolls were made with some indescribable chicken(?) paste - no cabbage, no onions, no spices, no rice inside. No other veggies mixed with any of the other dishes except specks of orange (sweet) pepper and LOTS of green, fresh brocoli. If you like brocolli... this is the spot to go! The slices of beef, with the broccoli were tough and chewey. The chef or owner obviously does NOT like spices or vegetables other than broccoli. Onions, bok choy, celery, carottes and chunks of green peppers would have been welcome. I give this place a 2 star only because the chicken balls had more chicken than batter ... contrary to a lot of other chinese/Cantonese places. Oh. And the Buffet dishes were well marked. You knew what you were eating. Will NOT...
Read moreI was really excited to try Diamond House again after hearing that they had new owners/management. I used to love their Chinese food and was hoping that the new management would bring back the quality I remembered. Unfortunately, my experience was a complete letdown.
I ordered takeout, including chicken fried rice, chicken balls, and beef and broccoli. To my disappointment, the chicken fried rice was terrible. It lacked any vegetables or eggs and tasted like plain, flavorless rice with a bit of chicken. It was like they used Uncle Ben's 2-minute rice instead of cooking it fresh. The chicken balls were equally bad, overcooked and dry with a chewy exterior. Even the beef and broccoli was not up to par, being undercooked and cold.
I was really disappointed with the new owners/management of Diamond House. They should be ashamed of the poor quality of food they are serving to their customers. It's clear that they don't care about their customers' satisfaction, and I would not recommend anyone to waste their time or money on this establishment. It's really sad to see a once-great restaurant fall so...
Read moreWow! what a change! We have been long time customers (many years), but no more. What was excellent hot, fresh, tasty, Chinese food is now awful, warm, stale, bland Chinese food. Rice tasted old and dry, the veggies were old. Broccoli stems were brown where they were sliced and the pea pods were so gone they were almost translucent. They have to have been in the sauce for a long time to look (and taste) like that. Price is up, but less value. - no utensils, fortune cookie or plum sauce included. No welcome when I walked in, no smiles, had to (instructed to ) tear off my own receipt off the card machine. Recent indications are that the "New Management" are local competitors known for their poor quality product. This business has been closed for 6 months for renovations, but some purple paint on the trim was the only change I detected, - same layout, old carpet and signage and the new paint slopped on the floor in the entrance. Seriously, for years we went out of our way to pick up meals here, but no more. Sad and...
