Finally a pho spot in Alliston! As a pho connoisseur, when we heard this place opened up, we HAD to try it! We ordered: -the large pho house special 8/10 -the house special vermicelli 7/10 -a small order of the deep fried shrimp & pork spring rolls 9/10 -a small order of the shrimp fresh rolls 8/10
The pho broth is fragrant and has good beef flavour while the noodles had a strong aroma of the five spice and cloves that they normally put in the broth itself. (Note: the noodles are the fatter type of rice noodles, I prefer the skinny kind but still a great bowl of soup)
The house special vermicelli bowl was nice, the meat was a slight bit thicker than the normal sliced pork you’d be getting at a Vietnamese restaurant and it was a little dryer but the flavour was good.
Fresh rolls were good, it’s hard to mess up fresh rolls to be honest. Just note that it doesn’t come with the traditional peanut sauce but more like a sweeter and lighter hoisin sauce. The deep fried spring rolls were great (who doesn’t love fried foods?)
If you’re more into spice, they don’t have many side condiments other than the typical sriracha (like the normal authentic pho spots do) But, you can ask for fresh chilis on the side (the red ones shown in the picture).
Overall, it’s not my favourite spot (to be fair, I’ve been to MANY) but at least I know if I’m ever craving pho when I’m in Alliston, I’ll have a spot to go to! Lovely experience, definitely...
Read moreMy partner and I are Vietnamese people living in Barrie and we were recently introduced to this place from a friend who lives in Alliston. Honestly I am pleasantly surprised about this hidden gem in Alliston and have nothing but amazing things to say about Pho Viet 99. We’ve been here 3 times already in the last month, but our most recent visit was Monday April 7th. I’m bringing this up because the our server working that night was just Phenomenal. She was so incredibly friendly, the food came out quickly, she checked in with us, made sure we had water and this isnt even mentioning the food. I had Banh Xeo, Kimchi Fries, and the Appetizer sampler platter while my partner had Bun Bo Hue. They offer a full authentic Vietnamese flavor while maintaining a clean environment. It is definitely worth driving here from Barrie and we will definitely be back. I also would love to recommend people try the Bun Rieu as well, which is an incredibly rare dish to find at Vietnamese...
Read moreSorry for this review but i feel as though i must be honest. I am stunned at how high this place is reviewed (seems impossible in fact) Once again sorry to management i know they will write a paragraph on how wrong i am but i have tons of reviews here and these reviews help me on where to go. First of all, the place is a hole int he wall (which is fine) but there is a bad smell. The front who took my order was very very friendly to help me buy, but my to go container had no spoon, fork, hot sauce, nothing. The place is extremely over priced. This meal is not $20, it is totally not worth it. The noodles were cooked in burnt oil, there was no flavor to the meal in general and they show no care in preparation. Way better options in the area like China Garden (or anywhere else for that matter). i will never go back and im glad i didn't leave a tip. parking was incredibly difficult as i had to park on the street. Please don't waste your hard earned $$. Go...
