Lazeez Shawarma — Restaurant in Newmarket

I always like to try a new shawarma place in hopes of finding a local gem, this isn't it!

Such an odd dining experience overall. I ordered a large shawarma and was surprised they only use one size pita. Since they don't have a large wrap they just take two regular pitas and sort of overlap them to create one large doughy shell. All the toppings went in, good amounts. When it came to the meat, that was scooped out of a tub in a warming tray. WHY WHY WHY am I getting precut meet instead of fresh cut from the cooking spit rotating behind the counter???!! Hot sauce went on - 2 lines. They use the same spicy sauce for all intensities but just at more or less depending how hot you want it. I don't mind spicy but I'm sure some people will struggle with this. Generous amount of other sauces and then toasted a bit.

Overall flavor was lacking and bland. Double overlaping pitas made some bites full of pita and doughy.

Customer service - both employees were listening to music on wireless headphones throughout the whole encounter.

This is probably the most negative review I have ever given to an establishment. I understand small businesses are ran by folks who run their family but this place is just bad!! I’m pretty sure this place buys reviews. My entire experience at this place was horrible. Health department needs do unannounced inspection. The fresh greens were the only food you should eat here. The chicken shawarma spit on the rotisserie looked very questionable. Cooked meat tasted very old. I ordered a beef and chicken shawarma salad bowl. They were very stingy with everything except the sauces. They gave me gyro instead of beef shawarma. They were nice enough to remove. The gyro and beef shawarma. Beef shawarma was very old, dry, and had weird non pleasant taste. My son ordered a beef shawarma sandwich and they also gave him gyro. The wrap was filled with lettuce and not much meat. I felt horrible after eating. The place also didn’t smell nice. I got a stomach ache that night. Never coming back here. This place offers nothing to deserve 3,4, or 5...

Myself and my girlfriend decided to try the new place in town. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable towards the food and product. We explained our go to place was usually osmos and decided to change it up for tonight. The gentleman asked if we would like the pita wraps mild, medium or hot, We both ordered mild. As we pulled out of the parking lot we decided to take a bite out of the food, the wraps were the spiciest thing we had ever eaten. We quickly drove back and asked to have the food remade. The gentleman explained that it is the same hot sauce they use but mild is one line, medium is 2 lines and hot is 3 lines... we had to explain that’s not how it works and he needs to explain to his customers that’s what they mean. We provide an example of going to a wing place and ordering different heat flavours, but he still did not understand the difference. In the end the gentleman replaced the food but was very rude during the whole thing. Price was good but after this whole thing we will continue to...
