Went for the 2 for 1 roast beef dinner (restaurant coupon). The server asked how we would like the it done, which was a good start. My wife asked for it to be "very well" done, That is where good ended. Hers' arrived maybe medium well (it was pink in the middle), she sent it back requesting it be microwaved. The server said she would have it put back on the grill. It came back the same except for more gravy. She did not eat it there. I was finished by the time it came back. The potatoes were more similar to spiced breakfast potatoes than nice roasted ones. My slices of beef (2 pieces around 12cm by 9cm) were not that thick, one piece was about 2mm at one end and 10mm at the other. My wife's pieces were thicker. As well there seemed to be a lot of fat. The mixed vegetables were overcooked. An issue that bothers us when eating out is to be able to see staff in back of the kitchen eating (on this occasion it was for the whole time we were there). The server was addressing seated customers and continued to address them while turning to a table behind to pick up dirty cups and glasses. While the coupon was 2 for 1 they charged tax on the full two meal total. Lastly there was a young boy, maybe 7 or 8, meandering from kitchen to the front cash area to whom the server asked, kiddingly, if he was trouble. To us businesses and young family do not add to a "Family Restaurant". We won' be back. We were there once before, perhaps different owners, where the cook chatted by a table of lady customers. Unlike baseball 2 strikes is enough to...
Read moreExtremely disappointed in our visit today. It was busy however, not an hour wait for food, type busy. The ladies serving were all nice. The "cook" seemed like an angry man. We sat at the bar-counter. I could see him preparing the food and getting mad when he saw something on a chit that he obviously didn't want to make. After waiting an hour for the food, we were absolutely famished. The best part of the bacon, peameal bacon, eggs, home fries & toast was, the toast. There was shell in my undercooked eggs. Bacon was barely warm. Undercooked & cold homefries (we both requested well done but these were not even cooked). The peameal would have been more enjoyable without all the grease, the entire meal was swimming in grease. I witnessed the young girl in the kitchen who was preparing the plates, she picked up and swapped bacon for tomato and then tomato for sausage from plate to plate, with bare hands. No utensils in sight. As I said, the ladies serving were lovely, can't fault them for the crap food. We did not say anything however when we received the bill there was a 25% discount applied. I appreciated that and when paying I let the lady know about everything and she apologized. That's all she can do. I still tipped the norm because I'm sure they were all having a bad time of it as I overheard other customers complaining. Very unfortunate as it's a cute wee place and nice & clean. They...
Read moreThis diner deserves more than 5 stars. AMAZING, SCRUMPTIOUS, FILLING. Just WOW. I had been looking for a place to have a nice breakfast while in the area and am so glad we chose Triple DDD Diner. I had the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were cheddar chive biscuits and had been warmed in the grill. Wow! The sausage gravy was delicious and served with eggs. I had asked if it was the traditional white southern gravy, and our server perfectly described this gravy - slightly orange color due to sausage and paprika. My husband had pancakes, eggs, home fries, and bacon. The pancakes were thick but fluffy and melted in your mouth. The potatoes were incredible with a slightly crispy exterior. The bacon is a type of bacon that is found in Canada, our server explained to us - peameal bacon. The coffee was to perfection. If we had been in the area another day, we surely would have returned. Our server was delightful- helpful and so kind and welcoming. The place is well decorated and very clean. We will DEFINITELY be back next time we’re in the area. A...
