Churchill's has a great reputation, and because of that, I went in with high hopes. Unfortunately, my recent dining experience was a letdown, especially considering the prices. I expected much better. From the start, things felt off. We were seated at a table where the electric candle hadn't been turned on, which was a minor detail but still a sign of a lack of attention. The most bizarre issue, however, was the flies. There were several green flies buzzing around the window right next to our table. We had to try and shoo them away ourselves, which was incredibly distracting and unappetizing. We brought it to the staff's attention, but they didn't seem to notice or care about the hygiene issue. The service was a major letdown, too. Our appetizers took an unreasonably long time to arrive. And it was the little things that really added up: a fork that fell on the floor wasn't replaced right away, and the serviette I was given was visibly dirty. We did not want to ask for salt and pepper, which for a restaurant of this caliber, should have been on the table or at least offered. We didn't ask because the server seemed to be annoyed that we told her about flies amd about providing plates to use to share appetizers Overall, the combination of poor service, cleanliness issues with the flies and dirty serviette, and a general lack of attention to detail made for a very disappointing meal. It's not an experience I'll soon forget, and definitely not one I'd recommend.

My husband and I were traveling back to Toronto and just wanted to grab some food. We didn’t read any reviews—just saw the pub and decided to walk in. OMG - This was the best decidion! I fell in love with this place immediately. Such a calm and cozy atmosphere. The food was fantastic. My husband had the Wagyu Burger ($30), and I had the fish with baby potatoes, carrots, and asparagus ($40). A true symphony of taste and flavor! We don’t drink, so we just had water and orange juice, which were perfectly fine. But I noticed they offer a wide variety of wines. The staff were kind and helpful. I highly recommend this place for a joyful and relaxing dinner with someone you love!

Arrived in North Bay, on my way to Ottawa from Calgary, but wanted to eat at a good steak restaurant. After seeing the reviews from Churchill’s, I stopped in. My spouse and I ordered a couple of appetizers to split before our steak dinners. I LOVED the dim ambiance of the restaurant, as it added another level of class to the already clean and classy atmosphere! The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable! BEST Cesar Salad ever! The dressing was so delicious, I could have eaten an entire meal of just the salad! My New York strip was perfectly seasoned and cooked! Even the crème brûlée was spectacular!

I’d booked a reservation online for this restaurant. We were coming in from out of town almost two hours so I wanted to make sure we were confirmed. So the night before I called and spoke with someone who assured me I was booked in, and then the app sent me a confirmation as well. All was good. When we got to the restaurant though, someone had taken my reservation! Not sure how-as I’d stated we were a party of two adults and four children. And there weren’t any children there. So they had to make up a new table-which took another ten minutes. They seated us in the atrium—which in my opinion should be kept solely for Lunch. The ambiance of this restaurant is awesome, and for a real steak dinner-that’s what you want-the old school, dark and brooding charm—not the bright, and sunny view of cars. I can go anywhere else for that. So I was really disappointed that we were put there-along with other people who were VERY loud-and it’s funny bc we had the kids! Anyway, that aside, there were crumbs all over the floor and our seats, the glasses were dirty; and cutlery had to be sent back. What is on the menu was not what you get-as well as not being the same as online. I’d pre-read online and knew what I wanted but then that changed once we got there and seen it was different. (Ie the ceaser salad, scallops) Added to that they were out of stock on somethings we had ordered, so changes had to be made. The wine menu is on an iPad which is absolutely ridiculous. The server was slow and inexperienced-so we had to wait a long while between courses and with four children that was a feat. (Regardless of the children- who were well behaved, it was a long wait bc the server waited until After she’d taken our appetizers away to come back and take our order instead of doing it beforehand) The food was ok. My steak came out well done instead of medium and they didn’t bring out our second order of bread-but charged us for it. The scallops came with a fruity jus that didn’t have any business being with seafood and the dessert menu is lackluster at best-and also mostly contains nuts; which would be a no for anyone allergic. Overall—not what you’d be looking for in a restaurant that charges almost $100/plate. I’m disappointed in going out and dropping all that cash and it not being worth...

I had eaten here twice in the past and had exceptional experiences, however my last experience was very disappointing and a bit creepy. Our server was excellent. I made our reservation weeks in advance and the 4 of us were very much looking forward to a very nice meal to celebrate the marriage of my partners sister to her fiancée. To start we tried to order champagne. Real champagne from France, not a sparkling wine. They had just recently sold their last bottle of our first choice a few days earlier. When we tried to order the second choice we received the same answer. Our choices were then limited to Dom, at $350.00 per bottle or a sparkling wine. At this point I asked, only half jokingly, if the liquor store was still open. This was very disappointing, as one of the things they promote is their large wine selection that is updated weekly. The appetizers were very good. For a main course my partner and ordered rack of lamb. To my amazement we were only served 3 ribs each! Must have been a hell of a lamb! I have ordered this item in restaurants all across the country and other parts of the world, but never was served only three ribs. The ribs were good such as they were, however the vegetables looked like table scraps withsome over cooked, some under cooked and some properly cooked. My partner does not eat very much as a rule, but after bread, appetizer and main course he left hungry as did the rest of us....... then to top the evening off my partners sister forgot her mask and when she returned to retrieve it she was stopped in the narrow passageway by an older man who she took to be the owner and he started coming on to her. He asked her where she was from and what her name was among other things and as she was going out the door he said “call me some time.” She told us this after rejoining us in the parking lot. She said that she and a girlfriend of hers had stopped there once before for drinks and the same old guy invited himself to sit with them for a similar experience. Suffice to say none of us will be back, but if you intend to eat at this establishment I suggest you eat a lunch before you go, bring your own champagne and accompany any good looking young women in your party as you pass by the old letcher...
