Ivan's Restaurant — Restaurant in North Bay

We went to Ivan's restaurant, At 1867 O'Brian St. North Bay, Ontario, at Aprox 12:10-12:15 pm On Friday September 10 2021 As We have for Many Years. We were waiting in Line when a male went Right past Everyone in The line up & proceeded to Place his order, the cashier Didn't correct him, I Said "Excuse Me, You just Cut right in front of Us!" He proceeded to berate Me & was extremely rude, then stated I was rude & My Parent's hadn't taught Me any manners, etc., so, of Course, I started to give it Back explaining it was rude To cut in line & DON'T speak of My Parent's, he kept cutting Me off, Berating Me & saying he didn't have time to wait in line, I said "& We DO!?? You're very rude & Disrespectful..." he got combative, & continued to speak Derogatory to Me & NO ONE SAID OR DID ANYTHING!!!! When it was Our turn to order, I asked the cashier why she hadn't said anything to let him know We were first, she said "I'm not getting involved!!! Are you going to place Your order!" I said "NOPE! We will go elsewhere!" & walked out, I went back in to request to speak to the manager, the same cashier said "I'm the Owner!" I said, "& You allow people to cut in front of Other's??? We WON'T be back, EVER! & you have now lost A LOT of business!" & I turned to the obnoxious male & told him he was a Disrespectful A$$HOLE!! & walked out! I have been A LOYAL Customer of Ivan's for 30 Plus years & recommended them to EVERYONE!!! I will NEVER recommend them again & I WILL Be letting EVERYONE know About how We were treated, Like second class citizens & that they allowed this very rude male to treat Us 2 females Like We were NOT Worthy Of Respect!!! So, I gather social distancing Nor covid protocols are No longer in effect at Ivan's restaurant as We were standing back awaiting Our turn to Be called up & he just ploughed past Us & went straight to the cash with his mask below...

The restaurant is modern with a 60’s vibe. Red led lighting runs the length of the large window front. Simply decorated and pleasant atmosphere for a busy restaurant. The chairs are hard wood and very uncomfortable. bit noisy and the sounds echo, but that’s to be expected for a small establishment. I ordered my all time favourite - Montreal Smoked Meat on light rye, fries and coleslaw. By the time I finally got my meal, after waiting over 45 minutes and watching people come in, order, get their order and leave, I was sorely disappointed. This meat was definitely not Montreal Smoked meat. It dripped with grease, literally. There was a puddle of grease on my plate! And so salty! And it was barely warm. But I ate it anyway because you pay first and then get your meal, even when dining in. And I was hungry. $18 for that - absolutely not worth the price. The fries had a taste of freezer to them. I couldn’t eat them. The one saving grace was the coleslaw - delicious, but such a small serving when you only have the choice between the slaw and soup. Because the cashier didn’t ask me if I wanted a drink when she took my order, I had to pull out my wallet again and hand over more money, making this meal priced over $20. Not worth it. Terrible Experience Extremely Slow and Rude Service (Follow-Up)

I’m adding another dissatisfaction to my last review because unfortunately, nothing has improved. As a SkipTheDishes courier, I’ve been picking up from this restaurant for over a year, and it’s always the same story: extremely long wait times and rude, unprofessional staff.

Every pickup takes at least 15 minutes, often 20–30 minutes, which is completely unreasonable especially since SkipTheDishes doesn’t pay drivers for waiting. And to make things worse, the staff here are aggressively defensive instead of apologetic. I once simply said, “Don’t you think you’re a bit slow?” and their reaction was hostile. No accountability or courtesy just attitude.

They clearly start making the order only after we arrive, which defeats the purpose of a timed pickup system. I truly hate coming here and only do it when it’s a must do order. Otherwise, I avoid this place entirely.

If you can’t manage your orders or treat delivery drivers with respect, you really shouldn’t be on SkipTheDishes at all. Unacceptable and disappointing every...
