Country Kitchen — Restaurant in North Dundas

Firstly, as soon as we entered, my Partner said “Hello!” to the Waitress behind the Bar & we were given no response but a weird stare. We then sat ourselves at a Booth, the Waitress we had throughout this whole duration was giving us extremely unnecessary verbal & physical attitude. This Waitress so happened to be the same Waitress that my Partner said “Hello!” to when we entered & was given no response. She rushing us as we were trying to order, when it was clearly not busy, did not even bother to make us feel welcomed. The Waitress kept staring at my Partner & giving her weird looks. Before ordering our food, I ordered a glass of Milk, it was served to me in a Plastic Cup, not to mention, the Milk was Warm, which was very odd. I than brought my Cup to the Bar & refused to drink it as it was not only Warm but served in a Plastic Cup. I’m not quite sure why this Restaurant does not serve Glasses, as even my Partners Water was served in a Plastic Cup. Moving on, I ordered a Club Sandwich, it was priced as $20.00, & came to me in the size of a what would be considered a Child’s Sandwich. There was maybe a single piece of Chicken, the Tomatoes were so old & soggy, not fresh whatsoever. My Partner ordered a BLT & Home Fries, her Sandwich was also a Child’s Sandwich, Tomatoes were not fresh, definitely in the beginning stages of going bad. The Home Fries were not fully cooked & were absolutely bathed in Grease. You tasted more Grease than the actual Fry. When we both began to eat, we realized that the Mayo tasted like Miracle Whip, which we both dislike, when we asked the Waitress “what kind of Mayo was used”, she began to get extremely frustrated & kept saying “it’s mayonnaise, mayo is mayo.” She proceeded to say that it’s just a “big white jug” & that “nobody else has ever complained about it except for you.” We were not complaining, simply just asking what kind of Mayo it was. The whole interaction was uncomfortable & she was giving attitude the entire duration for absolutely no reason, laughed at us, raised her voice. At this point, we just wanted to leave due to the fact that she was treating us the way she was. Other Staff clearly saw what was happening & did absolutely nothing about it. Customers around us were even noticing. We then refused to eat our Food as we disliked it & the Waitress was being extremely rude from the moment we sat down. This was absolutely not worthy of our stay. My Partner was clearly uncomfortable due the whole atmosphere, so we were getting ready to leave & the Waitress began blocking our Table telling us that we “have to pay.” We said to her that we did not appreciate any of the attitude that she had been to giving us, that the whole situation was unprofessional & we both agree that entire atmosphere was unwelcoming. She began making a scene infront of all of the Customers, yelling at us to, “GO” & “it’s all because of you” swinger her arms everywhere. It was awful, whoever that Waitress was, needs to take time to herself & seek help. Never have we ever experienced something like this at any other Restaurant. We highly do not recommend this...

I am giving four stars, and it would be five stars except for one issue which I will explain.

Stopped in after a long day on the road before heading home. I was starving. Ordered a Chinese combo plate.

The food arrived at the table very quickly. In fact extremely quickly which was great because I was famished.

For the price the amount of food heaped onto the plate was generous. The food was very hot which is the way I like it, and the veggies were fresh and crisp. There was good flavour and obviously no MSG was used or I would not have felt well after since I am allergic. I thoroughly enjoyed the food quality and quantity.

The waitress was very friendly and pleasant. She dropped by during the meal to ask if all was ok and if there was anything I needed and refilled my water glass.

I absolutely enjoyed the experience in relation to the food and service.

Now for the bad part that resulted in only four stars. The bathroom was not what I would call clean. Now granted I realize it was at the end of a Friday, so I will accept that there had likely been a big crowd there for the dinner meal before I arrived around 8p.m. However the more disturbing thing is that in order to get to the bathrooms you walk in the same alley as the way to the kitchen, and they have garbage bins sitting along this alleyway. This means you walk right past these garbage bins on your way to the bathroom. There was grease and some food scraps on the floor. Now I consider the fact that this was after a likely very busy dinner crowd, but for goodness sake who puts garbage bins outside the kitchen entrance where staff are bringing food past to the dining area and where customers have to walk past them in order to get to the bathroom? It certainly does not set a good image of the establishment...

All I can say is NEVER! again. My wife, daughter and I stopped in for lunch, first time ever eating or I should say attempting to eat here. We ordered 3 hot beef sandwiches, when they arrived we noticed the beef gravy was a bit off in fact it tasted more like ravioli sauce than anything resembling beef anything. The waitress told us that it's what they use on everything, the usual customers love it and that we should not expect a hot beef sandwich to be the same everywhere we order them. The waitress agreed to take our order back to the kitchen and bring us club houses but since we had troubles with what we thought was a fool proof meal we decided to ask questions, we found out their club house is made with salad dressing instead of mayonnaise so we decided to skip eating and got a bill for $32.71 for 1 hot beef sandwich, 2 ice teas and 2 bowls of soup which came with the order we originally made that...
