There aren't many good things I can say about this place. The eggs bennies I had were ok. The eggs were overcooked though.
When we first walked in, there wasn't a sign telling us to wait to be seated or to seat yourself. There were around 5 or 6 tables with people sitting at them and there were around 6 or 7 empty tables, but all of them covered in dirty dishes and nobody clearing them. Finally, after we awkwardly stood at the entrance for a few minutes, one person started to slowly clear tables and a server acknowledged our presence and led us to the table that was just cleaned.
Now, this restaurant is in an airport. The one place in the world where you should be able to order dinner in the morning or breakfast in the evening, because the people there are travelling to and from all over the world. They're not necessarily on "Victoria time." Unfortunately, this restaurant doesn't understand this basic idea, and we could only order from the limited breakfast menu.
Next, my wife and I decided it would be nice to have a mimosa with our breakfast. A single mimosa each. These drinks were about 2 ounces of Prosseco and 2 ounces of orange juice. They cost us $21 each. For 4 ounces of beverage. The photo I included was taken before I took a sip.
We ordered our food, and due to the set up of the restaurant, we could watch the cooks make food right next to the sitting area. Which meant we could see they were wearing gloves. And every time they scratched their face, or touch food waste, or switch between cooking areas, they didn't wash their hands or switch their gloves. The whole point of gloves is to avoid contamination, but if you're not changing your gloves, you may as well not be wearing them! Just wash your hands or switch your gloves.
We ordered our eggs bennies at 9am. Our breakfast was served at 9:50am. Nearly an hour of waiting to cook some poached eggs and english muffins and potatoes.
Finally, after we'd eaten, the bill came. Before tip, the bill came to $99.75. For 2 eggs benny and 2 mimosas. Quite possibly the most overpriced breakfast I've ever had.
If you are able to avoid eating here, you...
Read moreSubject: Unfortunate Experience with Rude Customer Service
Dear Spinnakers Store in Victoria International Airport,
I am writing to provide feedback about a disappointing experience I recently had at your store. I believe that constructive feedback can help improve customer service and foster a better relationship between customers and businesses.
During my visit on Aug. 2, 2023, I encountered an incident of extremely rude customer service that left me feeling disheartened and undervalued as a customer. The interaction occurred when I, along with my partner on a wheelchair, was in the dining area. Despite there being very few people around, the cashier/store clerk seemed impatient and made it clear that the wheelchair was not welcome in the dining area.
My partner has a visible disability. Visible or invisible disability, we expected to be treated with the same level of respect and courtesy as any other customer. Unfortunately, this encounter left me feeling excluded and embarrassed. It is essential for businesses to create an inclusive and welcoming environment, and this incident fell far short of those expectations.
I believe that understanding and accommodating the needs of all customers, regardless of their abilities, is crucial in today's diverse society. Proper training and education for employees on how to interact with customers with disabilities could significantly improve the overall customer experience and perception of your store.
I sincerely hope that you take this feedback seriously and address the issue promptly. I believe that by addressing such instances of rude customer service, your store can create a more positive and inclusive atmosphere, enhancing the overall reputation of your business.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my feedback. I hope to see positive changes...
Read moreI recently had lunch at Spinnakers on the Fly at Victoria, BC airport and had a very mixed experience. While I was lucky to be well-served, the overall atmosphere and service left much to be desired.
Pros: Good Service from a Few: The twin sisters who were working and the bartender were fantastic. They were attentive, hardworking, and genuinely seemed to care about the customers. Convenient Location: Being the only dining option at the airport is certainly a benefit when you’re looking for a quick meal before a flight.
Cons: Poor Overall Service: It was frustrating to see so many people unattended and leaving without eating. The kitchen staff were overwhelmed, leading to a staff member screaming at a waitress to stop taking orders. Staff Attitude: Many of the staff were chatting, taking breaks, and ignoring customers. It felt like they didn't care about providing a good dining experience. Lack of Training: The management clearly needs to focus on training their staff, especially in customer service and behavior. The unprofessional attitude is not acceptable, especially in a setting where customers have no other dining options.
In summary, while there are a few dedicated employees trying to make a difference, the overall experience at Spinnakers on the Fly was disappointing. Management needs to address these issues to ensure a better dining experience for...
