This branch of a chained sushi restaurant feels a little unusual at first glance, as it seems to be operating in the premises of an sport bar-style restaurant. The décor doesn’t really reflect much of a Japanese atmosphere — no lanterns, no wooden accents, just more of a casual Western dining look. That being said, the lack of Japanese-themed design doesn’t take away from the food quality.

We ordered a variety of dishes, including the sushi and sashimi set, the sushi and BC roll bento box, and a serving of beef yakisoba. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and nicely presented, though the cuts and preparation leaned more toward a North American style than traditional Japanese. The bento box was filling and well balanced, featuring rolls, rice, and sides. One highlight was the tempura selection, which included sweet potato, yam, and shrimp. The tempura was crispy, light, and tasty, adding a satisfying crunch to the meal. The BC roll — a local favorite featuring barbecued salmon skin — was also enjoyable, with a nice balance of textures and flavors. The beef yakisoba had a pleasant taste, though it leaned slightly sweeter than authentic Japanese versions.

While the flavors weren’t strictly authentic, everything tasted good enough to satisfy, especially for a casual sushi meal. Prices were also quite reasonable, making this a solid option if you’re in the area and craving Japanese-style dishes without spending too much.

Overall, it’s a reasonable dining experience — not the most traditional Japanese spot, but fresh food, fair prices, and reliable consistency make it worth considering, especially if you don’t mind the...

Hands down one of the worst experiences I’ve encountered in my life while dining in for sushi. I walked in with my mother a few nights ago as I’ve always ordered from Mr. Sushi whether that’s in person or via Uber, door dash and skip. We sat down and ordered some appetizers while still skimming through the menu deciding on what rolls we’d like to order etc. The waiter shortly brought us over our miso soup abd gomae - we still needed a few minutes on deciding on what rolls to order (still had the menu in front of me) the gomae was placed down on the SEALED menu and I took a few bites waiting for the waiter to come by and take our order. A random waiter runs up to our table with such aggression and snaps the menu I had in front of me (gomae was still on top just slightly touching it) causing that to almost fall over..and slammed it on the side of the couch. I said oh I’m still ordering and he says “the menu should be here” and storms off. He was so rude giving looks and faces. I’m still in shock how someone can treat a customer like that? My mother ended up saying something and he mentioned that he needed to clean up the SEALED menu (he was so upset that the food was touching the plastic menu) we didn’t stay. We were charged for the gomae, miso soup and gyoza that was still on the way. I will never come back here again nor will any of my friends or family. I have ordered thousands of dollars worth of sushi from them…not to mention I always tip. Very sad to cross out this local sushi joint from my list. I live in west van and would drive out to eat there. Horrible service overall....

Was hoping to reach the manager to bring up our concerns regarding large pick-up order privately, but couldn't get a hold of them for a few days, so sharing it here:

Dear Mr. Sushi Lonsdale Manager,

Our company had placed an order for a large pick-up service (for 30 ppl) for Feb 13, and we wanted to bring to your attention the following issues, that you may want to be aware of and discuss with your staff, in order to improve your service in the future.

We had placed the order 3 days in advance, and were assured that it would be ready for the pick up time at 12:30pm. When we arrived to pick up the food, the order was not ready, and we had to wait - and our scheduled lunch for our clients was late, which was extremely disappointing and embarrassing.

We were also assured that the individual orders will be combined into larger containers, for the purpose of buffet-style service. However, that also didn't happen, and we had to spend extra time reorganizing the food from styrofoam containers and plating the food for service, which further delayed our scheduled lunch.

Finally, and most surprisingly, we have requested 30 chopsticks, which the staff failed to include with the order. We came back 2 times to ask for more, and had to ask repeatedly as the staff was hesitant to give us chopsticks.

The food itself was ok.

We are disappointed by the service we have received, and most likely will not be coming back, but wanted to share this feedback with you as we want to prevent this happening in the...

Within a quick drive of Capilano Suspension Bridge and Stanley Park, this modern themed sushi joint was a perfect dinner for me and my wife as we traveled through some of Vancouver's most breathtaking outdoor areas. The menu includes a wide range of sushi including nigiri, sushi, sashimi, and much more. Ordering was easy when selecting the chefs combo (see the bottom plate) while other speciality rolls were also delicious. We enjoyed the contrast between no frills nigiri and an adventurous three meat BBQ roll. This place will easily please both the purist and the adventure seeker all for a reasonable price! Parking is free in the area in some locations if under one hour. If not, metered lots are available.

I can summarize my experience in great service! reasonable price and yummy meal. Hardly you can find similar food quality and good environment like MR.Sushi. Mrs. Jina is one of my favorite, very polite and helpful with smile who creates enjoyable experience. A brand-new location plus welcoming employee make us go back from the first time experience to today. There are couple of Sushi Restaurant in the Lonsdale neighborhood but who doesn't want clean tables and nice people and good food! these are want we got in the last visit and it was delicious. Thanks to the team and I hope they stay in the neighbor hood! I definitely recommend this place :)
