Located in the heart of the Shipyards District, this modern museum combines interactive exhibits with compelling storytelling to showcase the diverse narratives of the region.

Diverse and Engaging Exhibits

The museum's permanent gallery, "North Vancouver’s Stories Live Here," delves into themes of Passion for Place, Industry and Enterprise, and Connections. Visitors can explore artifacts, photographs, and multimedia displays that highlight the area's indigenous heritage, industrial development, and natural environment. What a delightful morning spent at MONOVA! They have a wealth of local information expertly presented and you can take a quick peak around or take your time and soak it all in. I’m not a stranger to the North Shore, and yet I was surprised about how much I didn’t know about the shipyards and the local mountains.

I appreciated the way in which the museum respectfully shared local indigenous knowledge and history by consulting and working with the local First Nations.

I would be amiss if I didn’t mention the incredible service from Kenny at the front desk. His passion and enthusiasm are inspiring as is his depth of knowledge about the exhibits. Kenny went out of his way to make this Teacher-Librarian’s professional development day most enjoyable!

I look forward to...

This small museum is an absolutely amazing way to spend your weekend before the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation! Packed with indigenous and local history, this museum pairs visual and audio in many exhibits where you can learn how everybody shaped the way Vancouver is today.

The gift shop also has incredible beautiful jewelry and teacups/teapot/saucer sets that incorporate First Nations art. I picked one up, and a lady outside saw me through the window, stopped, stared, and then came in herself to peruse the shelves herself!

Thank you for a humbling experience and the education provided here. I stayed fairly close to an employee giving a student the full tour and curation of the museum, and WOW! What a wonderful experience they...

An interesting museum telling the development of North Vancouver with a honest focus on the role and relationships towards the First Nation people. There is a range of media and fascinating objects in a few well organised galleries. I was here for maybe 90 minutes but didn't take it all in. Once bought, your entrance ticket is good for all day. The souvenirs in the shop, craft goods, were of a good style and quality. The front desk staff were really friendly and helpful.
