The Vibe and Actions of the Staff Says: YOU ARE INCONVENIENCING US!!!!

Walked in at 740pm. First Server immediately caught us at the door us and greeted us with " We Close in 4 Minutes ". Our response was, no problems, as long as you are still open, we already know what we want. Second Server came to the table to check on us and greeted us with " We Close in 15 Minutes " ( NOT 4 mins declared by Server No. 1 ). Way to make us feel welcomed!! We provided our order right away because we already knew what we wanted before we even walked in the door. Kitchen was prompt with the food and there were no issues with the food.

Food was delivered and within a couple of minutes, just as we were starting to dig in, Server No. 2 stopped by the table to inform us that the Kitchen is closed and that we can no longer order food. No problem, don't need any more food. We continued eating.

Server No. 2 returned promptly with the bill and the Debit Machine and asked that we pay because they need to cash out. So far, NO one had even asked if everything was OK and if we were enjoying the food or if we needed more tea. There was no other conversation / exchange about anything else except about their closing, and taking our orders.

By now, clock is ticking towards 8pm ( closing time ). While eating, we saw a fellow park his car across the street, getting ready to cross the street toward the restaurant. A staff quickly ran to the front to turn off the "OPEN" sign just as the fellow was walking in the door!!! Sorry, NOT welcomed!

In spite of all this, I really tried to enjoy our dinner, continuing conversation with my wife, and wanting to ignore the collective glare from the staff.

But this was not to be. Server No. 2 stopped by the neighbouring table to declare that they are closed, and then came up to our table to do the same - while I was still trying to eat dinner!!!

Neighbouring table left almost immediately so we became, uncomfortably, the only table left. The glare was so unbearable, we got up and left too, without having had the opportunity to finish my tea and rest a little to let the food digest.

There is definitely LOTS of room for improvement. Someone needs to go in there and teach them a thing or 2 about...

We stumbled upon Bon Sushi five weeks ago, and since then, we've become frequent visitors, having dined there five times already. Our taste buds consistently lead us back to this gem of a restaurant. Previously loyal to Sen Zushi in downtown Victoria, we must admit that Bon Sushi has claimed the title of the best sushi spot in Victoria for us.

When it comes to what matters most - taste, atmosphere, and value - Bon Sushi excels in two out of these three factors. The flavors here are truly exceptional, surpassing our previous favorite. Additionally, the value for the quality of food you receive is unmatched.

While Sen Zushi holds the upper hand in terms of atmosphere, Bon Sushi offers its own unique charm. One standout feature is their dinner Bento boxes, a rarity in many sushi spots. These boxes are generously portioned, satisfying both hunger and taste buds alike.

We arrived late into Oak Bay region and feeling desperately hungry. As vegan travellers, it can sometimes be a challenge to find somewhere suitable especially an hour before most restoraunts close. The closest sushi place to us at the time was Bon Sushi so we headed there. We saw it was nearly fully booked for a Monday evening and took this as a good sign the food and service was good. It did not disappoint! The staff got us a table right away, the service was friendly and very fast for a busy night. The food was made fresh and very flavoursome!
