I don't know if people have dead tastebuds, however I still can't give this place any more than 2 star even if I wanted to.
We ordered seekh kabab, chicken tikka, butter naan and lachcha paratha.
Seekh kabab: looked appealing but we had a shock of 'dhaniya' out of proportion on our first bite. It was marinated well but it was not made on charcoal for sure, maybe flame but had no charring that is characteristic of brown BBQ. Chicken tikka: was spiced fine but seemed it was cooked on air fryer or something, no charring and looked like orange cubes. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a microwave, but they were fresh and had that going for them. Naan: these looked as if baking soda naan, definitely not khamir/yeast based Paratha: again no flakes like you expect in lachcha paratha.
20 years ago one would have compromised, today, we won't repeat, they almost have it. The exact same recipes (except overpowered dhaniya kabab) on charcoal and a khameeri naan will really take their recipes to a 4 star, they have the right flavours...
Read moreJust came back from Chai and Grill Café Imran Khan
Owner’s a nice guy. You can tell he actually cares about the place.
Saw reviews saying quantity is less I didn’t feel that at all.
Portion size was very good. In fact huge!
In bbq we had beef bihari, beef seekh, and chicken tikka roll kebab. You can get it with roll paratha or puri paratha. I went with puri paratha.
Bbq items were full of taste, properly cooked, nothing to complain about.
Stuffed naan & loaded fries were next.. Both were pretty good. Kids liked the naan a lot.
Also got some free toys for the kids, small thing, but appreciated.
Nihari & naan spot on and highly recommend.
Chicken biryani
I don’t usually go for chicken biryani I made sure I took the masala wali side 😅
Not very spicy, but full flavour.
Chai was on point.
Overall:
Good addition to the scene. Food’s pretty solid, portions are fine, and the guy running it seems genuine.
Try it once, I think you’ll like it.
I’d go again. No drama,...
Read moreI recently visited Chai & Grill - Café Imran Khan in Oakville to try their chai and stuffed naan. While the experience had its highlights, there were some noticeable areas for improvement.
The stuffed naan, which I was particularly excited about, felt more like a pizza than a traditional stuffed naan. The topping-to-dough ratio left much to be desired—it seemed like they skimped on the filling, which is disappointing given the expectation of a fully stuffed naan. A more generous portion of stuffing would have elevated the dish significantly.
As for their chai, the matkas had an unusual smell, possibly due to a need for better conditioning. While this didn’t ruin the chai itself, it was definitely noticeable and slightly off-putting.
I’d consider going back, but I hope they reassess their portion sizes, especially in relation to their pricing. A better balance between cost and quantity would make the experience...
