The food is very good, but recently the restaurant has started using a young boy (8-10 years old) to basically run the place. I don’t have a problem with people teaching their kids a good work ethic, but I really don’t think they should be leaving him alone to answer phones, run the till, wait on tables, and handle 100% of the customer service with no other adults around helping or supervising. Not even sure how legal that is…
As understanding as I am given his age, he is definitely driving business away. The other night I placed a takeout order, the kid told me 20 mins. My food wasn’t actually ready until over an hour later, so I spent 45 mins waiting in the restaurant, which gave me a chance to observe things. While waiting, I witnessed the little boy seat 2 people and then never take their order (not even for drinks), so after 30 mins they got pissed and left. Another couple came in, waited 10 mins or so to be seated but the little boy ignored them so they walked out. The boy also brought half of a table’s food order out but didn’t bring the other half for a good 20 mins or so, resulting in 2 people at the table having food while the other 2 people had no food and had to wait an additional half hour watching their friends eat. I was one of three people that waited around 3-4x longer for their takeout than what we were told. And when we asked the little boy how much longer it would be, he just shrugged and walked away. In general, his mannerisms are kind of blunt and he can come across as rude. Again, I don’t expect perfect service from a little kid… but I also don’t expect a little kid to be running a restaurant by himself either. There were no adults to talk to, and it’s not like you can complain to an 8-year-old about the service.
Overall, we really enjoy the food here but I don’t think we’ll be back for a while. Maybe we’ll wait til they hire someone over 16 to...
Read moreFor the second time this year I have attempted to order a take out order with this restaurant. The child that answered the phone was rude, tried to argue with me about what was in the menu I was ordering from, and when I asked for the final price he hung up on me. When I returned the call I asked to speak with the owner, the same child stated that he was not there. I asked for a manager, he said that they were not there. I asked for a supervisor and the child stated that he was the supervisor. Now I say child as this person on the phone was in fact a minor, I would predict 11-13 years of age. I then spoke with the person who stated he was the superior and explained that he was very rude to hang up on me and that I didn’t appreciate this. He didn’t respond to my comments, I asked if he had heard me, he didn’t answer. I explained that when someone works in customer service it is important to be polite, that I had made an $85 order in my calculation and wanted to understand that this was correct. He would not answer me and hung up again! The father called not long after, I explained my disappointment and urged that perhaps his son should not be taking orders if he is going to argue and hang up on customers. There was zero apology or any kind of want to satisfy a customer. I canceled my order and will not go there again. Please make no mistake, I have worked in customer service as well as at a Chinese restaurant for many years of my life. It is a job where you have to provide polite and appropriate responses to questions. They have...
Read moreWe walk in and are mumble-greeted by a maybe 13 year old boy, the only employee we see in the place. We finally decipher that he is asking if we are picking up an order. We say no, we are dining in, and he rolls his entire head. Then, he steps back out of the way and just stares at us. We awkwardly found a table and he brought us take out menus. It went downhill from there…
O.M.G. 🤦🏼♀️
I can’t explain how BAD this food was! We ordered the deep friend wontons to start. Most of it was just burnt pieces of wonton wrapper. A few seemed to have a pea sized of SOMETHING inside of them… not sure that was intentional though. With sweet and sour sauce that was literally boiling when it came out. I’ve never had bland sweet and sour sauce before 🤔
We both ordered the same combo. Pork fried rice, chicken chow mein, and sweet and sour pork. The sweet and sour pork was likely a Canadian version of Tyson frozen goods, heated up and covered in the same bland sauce. The chow mein was spaghetti noodles, that appear to have been par boiled and then fried, and the “chicken” were about 5 tiny slices of chicken lunch meat (pictured in the center of the plate). At this point I still had hope for the fried rice, cause that’s hard to mess up! Alas, I was wrong. It had the texture of brown rice, with absolutely zero flavor, even with soy sauce! This place was a huge disappointment, but we should have known better simply from the...
