This is going to be long because ALOT of ridiculous things happened on our last visit to Angels. We went Friday night which is their BBQ night. We stood at the front waiting to be greeted and seated for quite a while and it was lining up behind us. We are sat by what we believe was the manager and given both the regular menu and the BBQ special menu. Our waitress takes our drink order and this is the beginning of a very ridiculous ordeal and in hindsight we should have left immediately. I ordered a 1/2 liter of wine and hubby orders a beer. Server comes back and tells me she can't serve me a half liter only a glass. I question this because I have done this at this very restaurant multiple times, no questions asked. She just shrugged and said "that's just what they told me". The manager pops by and asks if we've been served yet so I ask her if it is really a rule I can't order a half liter and she says yes, it's 2.5 glasses so they can't serve one person that much. I then ask if she brings another glass and my hubby can have a glass after and she says no because he already has a beer in front of him and it's one drink an hour per person! I giggled and asked if this is new because I've ordered this before no problem. She says they had to re-do their smart serve so those are the new smart serve rules. I questioned it because to my knowledge those are not the smart serve rules (unless I appeared intoxicated or already had several drinks, which neither was the case). I explain that my issue is it costs more and she says "why, how much is the wine?" So I inform the MANAGER that one 6oz glass is $7.99 and a half liter is $14.99 so you get 2.5 glasses for less money than ordering two single drinks if I wanted a second. Her reply? "I like your eyebrows, who did them?" I realized this ridiculous conversation is going nowhere so I let it go. Then we order food and it gets even more ridiculous! I get the steak special which comes with salad and side, hubby orders the 1/4 roast chicken and ribs which comes with 2 sides so he orders mashed potatoes and caesar salad but she comes back to say his entree comes with 2 sides but salad isn't an option. Then offers french fries or rice....with mashed potatoes?? By now we are really annoyed. But it gets even worse. She returns again and says instead of 1/4 roast chicken he will get a single chicken breast with bbq sauce on it. He asks why and she says that is that they offer on bbq night. He explains he ordered off of the bbq menu and it says 1/4 roast chicken. Once again she shrugs and says "that's just what they told me".
There are LOTS of restaurants in area so we won't be returning here!!
And I looked into smart serve rules and no where does it mention the "rules" they...
Read moreI am writing to express my utmost gratitude for the incredible hospitality the owner extended to me and my four children during our recent visit to Angel's Dinner.
From the moment we stepped through the doors of your restaurant, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. It was evident that you and your staff genuinely cared about creating a memorable dining experience for your guests. Your personal attention and kind gestures made us feel right at home.
I want to specifically commend you for your exceptional care and consideration towards my children. As a parent, dining out with a big family can often be a challenging task, but you went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable and well taken care of. Your thoughtfulness in seating us in a spacious area to accommodate our group was greatly appreciated.
Moreover, I was genuinely touched by how you interacted with my kids. Your patience, playful banter, and genuine interest in their preferences and needs made them feel special and important. The little surprises you arranged, such as the crayons and colouring pages, offering quarters for the gumball machine brought smiles to their faces and made the dining experience truly magical for them.
Not only did you provide exceptional service, but your presence was remarkable. The dishes we enjoyed were simply delectable. It was evident that you take great pride in the quality of the food served at Angel's Dinner.
Your dedication to creating a positive and welcoming environment is truly commendable. Our visit to Angel's Dinner will forever hold a special place in our hearts, thanks to your kindness and the exceptional experience you provided. Read moreDisappointing experience. The food was good, mine was anyway, my husband's steak was undercooked since the waitress didn't bother to ask how he wanted it. We were given a cup of coffee but no one came by to give us a refill until he got up and cornered someone to ask for it. Then our meal was delivered by someone other than our server and we were told she'd be by to check on us but she never came back. There was no silverware and again he had to get up and ask for it. We could've been sitting there not eating while the food got cold for all they cared. I'm glad the food was good, otherwise the whole experience would've been completely dismal. Maybe the waitresses have too many tables or something but I think the service could've been better.
3 weeks later, I'd like to amend this. I sent this review to the restaurant and got an email from the owner. She apologized for the bad experience we had and asked us to print the letter and come in and get another meal for $45.00 off. We did and had a far different experience. The service couldn't have been better, the food was great and we were very pleased. So I would definitely recommend this place. As other diners have said, the portions are huge. When we come back we may order one meal and split it, we'd have plenty for the two of us and we are big eaters. We both brought home part of our...
