This used to be our favourite place to get sushi burritos and poke bowls. To the point that we would wait to have late lunches on account of their hours of operation. The food, service, portions, all of it was the best in the city. Recently there have been some big changes. It seems that they are under new ownership and with that everything has gone down hill. We have ordered three times since the switch and each of those times have walked away with disappointment. The sushi burritos all of a sudden are 1/3 smaller in portion size with very little salmon in them. Two of the three times there was no spicy mayo in the burrito as a standard ingredient causing the food to be very bland. What used to be a hearty burrito taking up the entire takeout container now is two halves that you could fit side by side with half the container space left empty. For whatever reason soy sauce now comes in a cup as opposed to packets which when you try to pour onto your burrito makes a big mess as opposed to the prior packet method which allowed you to add a bit to each bite, now it just spills off the burrito and runs down your hand. Wasabi and ginger are no longer automatically included, another standard, so you have to remember to ask otherwise you're out of luck. Not a big deal once you know that but disappointing when you are just expecting it to be there. We used to get a heaping container of spring rolls with our order and free pop every time. Both of those are also no longer the case. The previous owners did an amazing job of building loyalty with their customers, like I said we were willing to go hungry for hours just waiting for them to open because it was so worth it. The new owners should reflect on the fact that making changes as they have will only drive customers away. Its no longer the experience it used to be. With such drastic changes you can only ride the coat tails of your predecessor for so long before people realize this is the new normal and walk away for good.
This was honestly my favourite place in the city, hands down. My top takeout choice every time. Sadly no longer the case. I raved about it to family and friends, got others hooked. Many of whom are also regulars and have noticed the changes being left disappointed by the new normal. Several have already stated they will not return. I with desperate hope for a miracle am willing to give it one last chance but have been avoiding the utter disappointment of placing that final order that confirms the end of something I loved so much. I would love nothing more than to reach out to everyone I know who's already given up and give them great...
Read moreThe food is ABSOLUTELY Delicious 😋 😍 👌🏿 I tried a variety of different items on the menu. You could say I got carried away BUT, Let me tell yea - ALL of them HIIT Right! Hands down, some of the best Asain Cuisine I've had in a Looong time. How the chicken stayed crispy even after it got cold is a new power level that I must master.👊
The receptionist was an ideal start to this overall interaction! She was really sweet over the phone. I really enjoyed speaking with her. The driver is a nice young man and very polite. He was quiet and respectful, too!
BUT the one thing that places this restaurant ABOVE others, is that the owner of the restaurant called me and I had missed the call. (Because I was busy stuffing my face with his delicious food) I did, however, notice that my screen lit up from a text message. I saw who it was from and concerned, I called back. This man proceeds to introduce himself and asks me to check my account because he was worried that his driver may have accidentally charged me twice. I Was Blown Away! See, while paying for the food the driver kept having issues with the debit machine. On our end it didn't beep to confirm that payment went through. So he redid the transaction and after we both heard that satisfactory beep - we breathed sighs of relief and parted ways with a smile. To have the owner reach out to me (almost instantaneously) is something that is rare and it shows me his character. Words cannot express the amount of respect he has earned from me in just this one phone call. The man that runs Banh Mi Express has integrity. He is a man of real heart and good character - AND that is something REALLY HARD to come by..😊
Banh Mi Express- You've got a customer for life. 💯 %Crazy insane food and Fantastic People! Completely recommend. 5 🌟
f.y.i. I had to rate the atmosphere even though I haven't stepped foot in the restaurant. And that's just from my interactions with these 3 individuals. That's how good the...
Read moreI recently had an Uber Eats adventure that was more chaotic than a cat in a room full of rocking chairs! Picture this: I open the door, and my driver is like, “Oops, the bag broke!” Great… just great. Suddenly, I’m left holding a sushi roll that’s been on an unplanned adventure on the sidewalk. Thanks, concrete!
My expectations for delicious sushi turned into a taste that can only be described as soap, salt, and a hint of sand. Yummy, right? After tossing that culinary catastrophe in the trash, I figured I’d get a refund. But of course, Uber had other plans. I clicked on “Receipt” and got hit with, “Sorry, can't help you. You might not have been billed.” Excuse me? I’m out here wrestling with poor food fate while Uber’s tech gremlins are sipping coffee!
So, I decided to put Uber on the back burner and ordered directly from the restaurant’s website. Let me tell you, the staff there deserves a standing ovation! They were like culinary superheroes! The food arrived hot, fresh, and on time, unlike my unfortunate earlier sushi experience. They even checked in multiple times, making sure I was happy. Talk about taking customer service to the next level — they were practically psychic!
The food? Absolutely mind-blowing. Each dish was crafted with such love and care; I felt like I was eating in a five-star restaurant, not just some takeout. They even gifted me a free food item that tasted like it jumped straight out of a delicious dream!
So here’s my message: if you’re looking for a food adventure, skip the Uber gamble and head straight to this place! You’ll be treated like royalty and might even feel a little extra love in every bite. It’s a rare experience where the staff genuinely cares, and the food makes your taste buds dance. Don’t miss out — your stomach...
