Tried their jerk chicken poutine at the London international food festival last weekend. The sign had masking tape on it listing the prices and it said $15 for the poutine. They had us pay after the food was made and we handed the guy a $20 bill and asked for the change. He said he didn’t have any change (strange considering it was all cash and menu items are not all multiples of 5, therefore they would have loonies and toonies). We said okay, and tried to hand him $15, 3 $5 bills, to which he said no it’s $18. This was quite bothersome considering the festival was half over at this point (aka plenty of time to fix the price on their 5 or 6 item menu that had the prices listed with marker and masking tape) and because the poutine was the size of a small small paper tray that they often serve a small fry on, there was absolutely no way that little of food was worth $15, let alone $18 like he was trying to scam from us. He still had our $20 bill at this point and insistent that the price was $18 and suggested we buy a drink to get to $20… We then said we want our money back and refused the food, he then allowed us to pay the $15, as listed on the menu, and keep the food. The poutine was good, however, the chicken did not resemble jerk chicken, it was basically bbq sauce. Very scammy!! For credibility, you can go to my previous reviews and I actually had a jerk chicken poutine last year in Windsor that was amazing and the portion size was about 4x larger. This is sad bc I was excited to see a Jamaican restaurant open on Richmond but after this experience I will never go there and never...
Read morei’m all for supporting local food around the city was my first first time there on a Friday night wasn’t too busy ordered small jerk chicken and fries with a patty came up to $22. I gave the young man $25 and told him to keep the change as it was late and I was always happy to leave a tip for trying something new, but when I got my order, the chicken was out of the fridge. It was warmed up quickly and served I basically paid $25 for fries because the beef patty was very mediocre. Nothing crazy. I would have gladly waited for a fresh piece of chicken to be made because it wasn’t even busy the chicken tasted like it was left overs from the night before ive heard good things about this place but not too satisfied after that no fresh chicken? whats the point i dont think anyone wants to eat cold chicken that tastes like fridge wont be returning anytime soon, im not one to leave a negative review but after getting cold chicken served I really lost my appetite
overall the young man working was very helpful and nice but please serve...
Read moreCame here with some friends after catholic mass and adoration. I actually tempted my one friend into coming by the suggestion.
I first got the Oxtail (8.5/10). It's the best Oxtail I've had, but I wouldn't get it again because it was mostly bones and the side portions weren't enough to justify a large in my opinion. Great flavour and spices with the vegetables and rice & peas. I was also still hungry so.....
I got the Curry Chicken (8.4/10). The best I've got from a restaurant, but not the best I've had. Way more sides and portions! I was full 1/3 in. If the Oxtail had the same portions I would've rated it better. Great flavour and spices as well.
Wouldn't recommend the Ginger-Pineapple Juice (4.3/10). It was a commercial brand, but very gingery and a bit much.
My friends got the Jerk Chicken Poutine, Jerk Chicken plate, Ginger Beer and Ting drink. Next on my list when I return. This wouldn't surprise me if it's the best Jamaican Food in London. I wish it had...
