I haven't been here for a couple of years. Back then I went once and it was a great experience. I went here a couple of days ago and I was very disappointed with a couple of things.
They have a lunch special and I did not want the soup so I asked if I can substitute it for a different soup as I didn't want egg soup and they said no. Then I asked if they could substitute it for a can of Coke and again they said no. So I ended up still having the special because I wanted the spring roll and I just told him not to bring the soup and just bring me the main dish and the egg roll for the same price.
I ordered chicken sweet and sour with vegetables and honestly the chicken had nothing but batter in there. Barely any chicken at all. I really felt disgusted by it. Also the rice was not fresh and it felt like it was stale. I paid all together $25 with tax and tip for this lunch special which was not even worth even a dollar or any of my time to be honest. I'm not usually that harsh with reviews but I'm just being very honest with my experience. Most restaurants I've gone to have been at least average if anything.
my waitress did ask me how I found the food and I told her the truth about the chicken and she didn't say much from what I could recall. Then I saw her go to the back near the bar where all her colleagues were standing after when I had paid her; and all I could hear was them laughing as soon as she got there and was talking to them. I don't know if she was talking about my comment or if she just happened to walk there and they shared a joke at the same time the coincidentally when she got back there.
I drove all the way from Toronto to take care of an important errand in London Ontario and there are many other London favorites I have that I could have went to for lunch but I really wanted to go back to this place cuz I had such an amazing experience about 4 years ago.
I definitely will not come back here ever again. I hope you guys have a better experience and please do not order the chicken sweet and sour if you want more chicken. In fact I wouldn't suggest ordering anything that has any kind of batter or flower in there because I feel like you won't get as much meat from that dish.

Read moreVery upset leaving this place today. When I arrived at the restaurant the host was not friendly or even acknowledged us but I didn't let that phase me. Through out the service we did not get a single smile and had to constantly flag someone down to take our order and get us tea. Even at this point I was okay with it. It's very typical of this place. (Good food but bad service)
When it came time to pay the bill however this is when it went downhill. Again... we sat around for a while waiting to get our food packed up.
My sister and I had ordered 2 dishes each. I got congee and fried donut, she got rice and a congee.
A different server came and handed us the bill. It was split up but the bill was wrong. They had never verified with us what was going on which bill. I kindly explained to her who was paying for what.
I was billed for everything except the 1 congee.
She took a while to come back and billed us wrong again. Giving my sister only 1 dish to pay and everything else to me. I told her it still wasn't right.
Maybe she was having a bad day but she got mad and proceeded to yell at me. One of her coworkers happened to walk by and the waitress starts angrily speaking in Chinese and walked away.
Her coworker than took my bill and I once again explained we were paying for 2 dishes each.
The bill came again and this time I was randomly charged 5 dollars on my bill. When asked what it was she told me it was for extra crab meat... I had never ordered that. I told her and she finally came back with the correct bill.
I have never been yelled at before at a restaurant.
All in all. It was a disappointing experience. I had always recommended people to this place but after this. I...
Read moreI moved to London from Toronto 2 years ago and I hadn't been able to find a quality, authentic Chinese food place until now! This place is amazing, their food is fresh, and the flavours are great and authentic compared to any other place in London that I've tried. It is on par with some of the places you'll find in Chinatown in Toronto. The portions are also big and focuses on meat over veggie (unlike some other places) which justifies the higher price.
The Seafood Chowmein was delivered properly. The seafood and sauce was in a separate container than the crispy noodles, so the noodles didn't get all soggy during delivery. I also appreciated that there was more seafood (shrimp, squid, white fish) than there was vegetables, and the vegetables that were included were authentic Asian veggies like Chinese Broccoli and Shitake Mushroom (yum!).
The General Tao Chicken was great, not super ketchupy like other place and it's got a nice kick to it with chilli's as well.
The Beef and Chinese Broccoli was delicious and there was a good balance between the veggie and beef.
They have a wide variety of authentic dishes, so I must say it was hard to choose what to order! I will definitely have to order again to try out some more dishes. Highly, highly recommend that this place, it's worth...
