I have to say, even though there were many not so good reviews, my boyfriend and I decided to try this place anyways as we take people's reviews as a base, but you can't always trust them as some people are sometimes just out to complain. I have seen it first hand in my 14 years of working in a customer service based career.
Anyhow, last Saturday we decided to give it a try as we are always open to new breakfast places.
When we got there, there was a slight line up of maybe 2 groups of people ahead of us. The whole time we were in line the front door of the restaurant was open. Even us standing in line, our 6 year old and I were freezing cold. It was only about 6 degrees Celsius outside and quite windy. I tried to shut the door, but as soon as someone else opened it, it stayed open again as though the automatic setting was to be open. We froze in line until a table was free.
After a 10 minute wait a table cleared for us and we sat down and it was apparent that we were not the only ones feeling the cold as majority of the patrons were eating their breakfast in their jackets! I asked a server if we could shut the door as it was cold and she replied that it was actually nice as it was quite hot in there. I can appreciate that serving you are moving around, but for us sitting to eat we aren't moving around so we won't feel the same temperature increase. I mentioned to her that many people were wearing their jackets as it was clearly cool in there and she just kind of gave me a smirk and went on to her duties. Other people were clearly feeling the same way we were as there were a few others whom tried to shut the doors as well, to no avail.
When we were served it was by another lady and we didn't bother asking again although we all kept our jackets on through our meal.
My Boyfriend ordered a sausage skillet and on the menu it said "Topped with Swiss Cheese", I ordered a standard 2 eggs with peameal and rye bread, and our girl ordered similar to mine. Us ladies got our meals first and then my boyfriends came a minute afterwards. Once his plate was set in front of him it was obvious that the cheese was not Swiss cheese, it was processed cheese. This I find to be an insult and so does my boyfriend. We don't go to a restaurant to eat plastic cheese. and for the cost of $12 it is very insulting to put crappy processed cheese onto food, although it did not make any mention of it being processed cheese on the menu.
My boyfriend got completely turned off and when the server came over and my boyfriend explained it was processed cheese, she was polite and offered to get him something else. He said no thanks as he was disappointed with his meal and was nervous to send it back for another option as there is a bad stigma about returning food and cook staff doing awful things to meals. Not saying this would have happened but he wasn't going to take a chance so he just refused an alternative.
After that, our server did not return to our table until she gave us the bill. We didn't get one single coffee refill, and it was quite obvious that she was purposely avoiding our table. She had a table directly beside us and she checked on them a couple times while we were left to ourselves. It was noticed that when she was coming towards us she would not make eye contact and kept her back to us as much as possible. I don't even know her name as all that was on our bill at the end was a "K" under the server name.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. Take heed in the other poor ratings as we found out on our first impression that they were legit issues! We will not ever return to this establishment and encourage others to follow.
I feel the only reason they were busy is because there isn't another breakfast place in the area, besides Cora's which although a bit more pricey I would recommend in a heartbeat!
I think if there was another breakfast place in that area that was even remotely better, Harry's would see a major decline in...
Read moreFood here is great. Both times ive been here the food itself hasnt disapointed me. HOWEVER Brenda one of the waitresses there whom i had the unfortunate luck of getting both times is horrible and unprofessional.
The second time my friends and i were there we arrived around 2:30pm (they close at 4 or 5) she came to the table to take our drink orders. Once she came back she asked if we were ready to order our food. We werent as my friend still hadnt decided yet...she then returned a little over a min later to ask again. She said "its just the kitchen is closing but i dont mean to rush you." Surprised i then asked oh im sorry are you closing?(we would have left if they were, ive worked as both a cook and a waitress so i know what closing time is like) she then replies "well no we start cleaning the kitchen when there is business decline but dont worry you still have time to order..." first of all if you arent actually closing it is VERY unprofessional to say that to a customer now we feel rushed already and i learned later they dont close for another couple hours.
Once our food was delivered we didnt see her again till we were almost done, no drink refills nothing until she brought the bill without asking us if we were done. She then asked my boyfriend if he wanted a box to which he said yes.
She then proceeded to grab a vaccuum while we still waited for that to-go box. Vaccuuming while there are at LEAST 3 or 4 groups of people eating is insane! Another waitress ended up coming to take some of our plates away and give my bf a box. Brenda didnt come back to completely clean the table off until we were leaving.
This is the second time she has ignored us for the entire meal and left another waitress to finish taking care of her customers. She shouldnt have started vaccuuming while there were still customers in the restaurant. I cant beleive the nerve of this woman, working in the food industry myself i have never seen such bad service from one individual, Harrys needs to get rid of the members that dont do anything for their business the only reason i will return is because of the food if i get Brenda again i will move tables to receive another waitress i will not be served(or lack there of)...
Read moreThe food has really gone down hill since theyve moved to there new location mind you the new atomphere is great , love the space. But the food time & time agian going back is bland & basic. Ive gone back a few times in hope of change but very dissapointed over & over. This last time was the worst experience and my now last. I ordered a juilenne salad with ranch dressing on the side . I got a werid looking chunky salad that had potatoes salad on it .which is bazzar & it had ranch on it . I waited a good 19mins for waitress to come back to ask how it is etc. No show. I went up to my server asked if she could come to my table .(the owner& 3 staff sitting there talking) i told her how the salad is not the one i ordered (ive had it there before) there must have been a mistake .Shes like nope that what you ordered . I said juilenne is a style of cutting that where the name comes from & theres supposed to be boiled eggs not potatoe/egg salad. So she took my plate to the owner they both went to kitchen and came back with same plate except now the meat /veggie we kinda cutt. She said the owner approves this to be the salad you ordered . I said no thanks i dont want that salad . They charged me for it . The pictures attached are when the server first brought it out & after they brought it back .My previous review had that they had Terrible food but great service ..Now its Horrible food & horrible service. Anything you make at home is better...
