Used to be a big supporter of Marco's Original Pizzeria, from back when they had their restaurant on Tecumseh Rd to now inside the Riverside Legion. Whenever we place orders and are given a time frame, we show up at the time (usually later knowing what to expect) and still have to wait 10/15 + minutes. Which is very frustrating that it happens over and over but I never said anything.
Well, tonight, I called to see if they have any specials on today and was told X amount of prices for items. Such as $17 for a large pizza, they had a wing special and their chicken parms were $11. Side note; the person I was talking to asked Marco what the specials were because he didn't know (and I heard what he said) the kid was also rude and very dismissive. Anywho, we figured out what we were ordering and called back to place our order anyway. Our total came to over 20+ dollars over what we figured it out to be via prices we were given and prices on their menu. I thought oh maybe they didn't punch in the specials while giving me the total quickly on the phone. So at pick up we mentioned it and were treated poorly and basically called liars about prices we said we were given, that he was the one that talked to her on the phone. Marco came out himself and was ignorant and itemized everything, which each item was a few dollars + more than what we were told on the phone. Instead of arguing anymore at we laid and left (kids were hungry!)
I called to speak to Marco and said I was calling about the discrepancy and he was again rude, again dismissive and seemed to not care what I had to say. He said his base pizza is $17 plus $1 per topping (we had 2 and I rounded to $20 when estimating price), they didn't have a wing special and the parms were on for 2/$28. I told him he should let his employees know to give correct prices to people on the phone and we have been long time customers and to treat their customers better. He basically dismissed me again and was non apologetic for the issues so I hung up.
Needless to say we were very disappointed, and upset by the treatment and will finally stop giving them chance after chance.

Read moreWe found out through a Facebook post that Marcos Original Italian diner had a Sunday Panzerotti special , 2 toppings for $12.99. I was craving pizza and well a panzo is just as good if not better. We called with 40 min to spare before they closed for 6 pm and they took our order. I had to double and triple check that it is inside the Legion on Wyandotte St East. When I arrived they must have known the order was for me and had it ready to go and cashed me out. I was actually a few minutes early so I didn't have to wait.
As for the food, A+ for size and taste. The meat sauce you get with it is very yummy, it's not just a cup of basic pizza sauce or marinara. It has pieces of meat and other items in it making it very hearty.
On their whiteboard they had a Saturday special for Chicken Parm meal $14.99. We might have to try that next time.
We will definitely order from here again, as for the person complaining about Veterans hanging around the Legion, shame on you... that's what they are supposed to do at the Legion. It's a hang out for veterans to sit and have a drink and tell stories. You should be honored to be in...
Read moreOk.... Hold on tight for this one. When I saw this "Italian Diner" listed on Google, I had a drastically different idea of what to expect.
This is basically like a large VFW Hall / Moose Lodge. It has billiards, a bar and a spacious dining area with a small stage where live music does occur when scheduled.
There are several very intereting pieces of Military memorabilia on display throughout the dining area. The average age of the patron is probably about 60 ish...
Now, THE FOOD.... This was some of the best thin crust pizza we have ever tasted. I would give the overall food quality 5.5 stars if I could.
If you are looking for amazing take away Italian, this is THE SPOT. If you're looking for a unique dining experience that also includes Italian cuisine... Try this place out.
