Marukin Restaurant is, without a doubt, my go-to spot in the city. This Japanese and Thai restaurant has quickly become my favorite, and for good reason. The owner does all the cooking, which ensures a consistently high level of quality and freshness in every dish. You can really taste the difference—each plate feels carefully crafted, and the ingredients are always vibrant and flavorful. The prices are also very reasonable, making it easy to indulge in excellent Japanese and Thai cuisine without breaking the bank.
Living close by, it’s tough to resist stopping in frequently, and I find myself returning more often than I can count. Over the years, I've brought countless friends here, and they all end up loving it just as much as I do. Marukin has a certain hidden gem quality, making it feel like a special discovery in Windsor. The owner is genuinely kind and clearly passionate about his work, which adds a personal touch that makes each visit memorable.
I’ve tried nearly everything on the menu—from the fresh sushi and sashimi to the flavorful Thai curries—and I’ve yet to be disappointed. The seafood is fresh, the spices in the curries are perfectly balanced, and the portions are just right. You simply can’t go wrong at Marukin. If you're in Windsor and craving Japanese or Thai, do yourself a favor and visit this...
Read moreTonight we had the best dinner out we have had in a long time. Not only were the beautiful people at Marukin willing to accommodate us at the last minute on a Saturday night but the food was top notch. 3 of us ordered the hibachi dinners and it was really cool how they served us one course at a time. I also really appreciate that they brought out the kids dinners first so they didn't have to wait. We had a variety of items off the menu and everything was absolutely delicious and so fresh. Oftentimes when you order vegetables at a restaurant they are a frozen medley but this was not the case here and we were each served a wonderful variety of hand prepped mushrooms, onions, and zucchini. Finally, the salad dressing, which they make in house, was probably the best salad dressing I have ever had. If they bottled it and sold it they would have me a loyal customer. In addition to the delicious food the staff was also very friendly, welcoming, and on the ball. I also feel that I should mention how reasonably priced everything was! For a teriyaki rib eye dinner served with soup, rice, veggies, and a salad and drink it was less than $20. All in all, our night at Marukin was an incredible experience and we look forward to many more family meals...
Read moreSmall cozy place with clean, fresh sushi. I worked there as a student 15+ years back and dine there every chance I got. The kitchen is clean and food will only cook when ordered. It's an established business, so they know how much customer to expect year round with a little extra. The place is small and cozy, but guaranteed to have fresh food. They never over-stock on their ingredients, plus they have a personal supply grocery store that deliver every week, as needed. Since the regulated salt-contents on food from the government, they reduced down the saltiness to what I not preferred, but that can easily fix with more soy-sauce. The owner tries to keep the Japanese-authenticity flavor as much as possible. I especially recommend their Namayasai salad (love the house sauce), yaki udon, bento box, spider rolls, futomaki roll and the sashimi dish. Many parking spaces in the lot. The plaza is a tucked away in a hidden corner, but the place is worth trying. Totally recommend this restaurant for you...
