I have to admit that I’ve never thought of myself as a “sandwich guy”. It’s not that I don’t like sandwiches, it’s just that they’ve never been my go to when considering options for lunch in the sea of lunch options.
Well let me tell you, I’m a changed man! 3 days ago, a good friend showed up to work and brought me a California Club sandwich and a bowl of Wicked Thai soup from the brand new Press’d London location.
First thing that hit me before I even opened up the paper bag containing the sandwich, was the weight…this thing was NOT a snack, it was a meal! This thing was hefty. The cheddar herb bread was fresh, flavorful and perfectly complimented the roasted chicken, guac and other fresh ingredients it contained between its generous slices. It was delish.
Remember when I said sandwiches were never my go to? Well Thai food HAS always been one, which brings me to the Wicked Thai soup. This soup hit the nail on the coconut curry head. Packed with flavour and loaded with chunks of chicken, rice and just the right amount of heat, the soup in and of itself, was a meal.
Two very happy (and full) thumbs up from a born again “sandwich guy”! The only thing I was left wishing was that there were more Press’d locations, so hopefully there are more to come. But for now, if you’re in the London area, do yourself a favour and check out Press’d London, you will not regret it and...
Read moreI wish I could give more stars but unfortunately had a bad experience. I ordered a vegan sandwich. The one girl tried to give me 3 pieces of the vegan chicken on a regular sized sandwich and argued with the other girl who was telling her that she needed to make heat more. While waiting, the one that argued about the amount of vegan chicken, was letting me know that the smoothies were good. I mentioned that I can’t have it because of dairy and she told me that’s ok, they use yogurt. I had to tell her that yogurt is dairy so therefore not vegan friendly. So I went to get a drink and (chicken and smoothie girl) followed me to the cooler and stood there and watched me as I was looking at my drink options. It was very awkward. As I was eating my sandwich, I noticed that there was cheese on it! I don’t eat dairy as I’m very lactose intolerant. I asked the girl (chicken and smoothie) if they put cheese on it and she smiled and said yes and then started naming all the ingredients on my sandwich. The one that make my sandwich handled the situation professionally. She apologized profusely and made me a new one. I am disappointed that I had to have this experience as Pepto ended up being my dessert and costing me $25 extra to purchase. Please train your staff properly what vegan means and that dairy is not vegan friendly. The place was...
Read moreI visited them at their grand opening today, and got to try a couple sandwiches at a discount. They do pressed sandwiches (hence the name) and smoothies. Imagine grilled cheese sandwiches with meat on thick fresh bread, that's what they do, and they do it well. 😋
I tried the Cubano and the Stampede.
Obviously this isn't the food-truck from Chef, so you should temper your expectations of the Cubano. I quite enjoyed it, mixing a blend of porks/hams with cheese, a nice sauce, and pickles! It paired extremely well with their Herb bread.
The Stampede is your steak with fried onions, mushrooms, and cheese: a classic. I had mine on white. The mushroom flavor was strong here.
Both sandwiches were great, each highlighting a different protein (ham/pork vs beef). The Cubano on Herb bread is perfect as is, though if the Stampede had some crunchy peppers on it, it would satisfy my cheesesteak craving (controversial take: I prefer mozzarella to whiz).
The staff were lovely, understandably a little frazzled being their first day and the MASSIVE lineup. 100% I...
