Four of us came to celebrate a 70th birthday. We had been looking forward to eating here because we'd read good reviews and we love supporting small, local businesses. My wife and I were unavoidably detained and arrived a few minutes late. We were greeted by a server who put her hand in me and growled, "You're late!" (She may have been joking but we'd never been there before.) Service was okay. We had drinks, then ordered appetizers, which were delicious, though quite large. Three of us ordered the 8 ounce strip loin, medium rare. They came with a small portion of vegetables. One of us ordered baked potato and the other two, mashed. The steaks were perfectly cooked and very tender. And dreadfully salty. One of us, someone who generally salts heavily, found it too salty! The vegetables and mashed were also too salty. The gentleman, whom I assume is the manager or owner, noticed that 2 of us did not finish a good portion of our meal and asked if all was okay. None among us generally likes to complain but we did share how we found everything too salty. He apologized and went to speak to the kitchen staff. He returned saying he had tasted the vegetables and found them to be fine. The server arrived at this point and asked what the problem was. We explained it all to her. She turned to the one who was still eating (the woman who heavily salts her food), and asked her opinion. As our friend was explaining how, despite liking a lot of salt, she found dinner too salty, the server left before our friend finished speaking. There was also "entertainment", a singer who, while good, had his sound system turned up very loud. We had to actually yell at each other in order to hear. The volume may work in a bar however, in a restaurant, where people go out to talk and eat, this was unpleasant. We didn't ask for anything from the manager though it would have been nice had a discount on our bill, or a discount on a future meal would have been offered. It would have also been nice had he not contradicted us when we told him the vegetables and potatoes were also overly salted. We frequently eat out and having a nice restaurant, close to home, is always a plus. Sadly, this is not a place to where we...
Read moreAfter owning restaurants for 13 years it always amuses me at the unwarranted reviews people put in. Sometimes people put in their own expectation of how a drink or meal is prepared. Not all drinks and meals are the same. Google veal parm and see how many different ways it's cooked! We always put our own spin on our drinks and dishes and how we wanted them to present them. Going out to other restaurants often, I love trying new exciting creations from the Chef. That's how dishes and drinks are created. The best dishes and drinks were found by experimenting and going outside the box. So forget the way Mom made that dish and trying someone else's spin on it. Also patience is key, if you want fast..McDonald's is down the road...so sit back...relax and enjoy a night out. Nobody is perfect, nor are restaurants. Walk a mile in a restaurants shoes...its one of the hardest businesses to be in. We're all human. If you have a legit issue bring it up to the server asap...politely..so they have an opportunity to fix the issue. Do not stay quiet and then blast a restaurant on Google days after. Trolls aren't nice. Now my personal experience with Renagadz. Went in to try this new restaurant as I had a long day in meetings and was super hungry. Decor was very nice, clean, upper scale and nice attention to detail. Washrooms clean and neat setup. Linen is always a plus in my mind....it costs a lot to have...trust me. Candle lighting a nice touch. Service was excellent. Had a beer and ordered crab cakes for app and salmon for dinner. Came out hot and fresh. I'm not generally a veggie guy but the side veg was tasty. Rice not over cooked. Crab cakes were super. Salmon was not dry and flaked off. It was a Thusday so I didn't get to see the weekend music but look forward to coming back. Owner checked in to see how my meal was, always nice to owner hands on rather than absent. I prefer individually owned restaurants over big named corporations for the quality and personal touch. Renagadz hits the mark. We'll done. Looking forward to coming...
Read moreWe were a party of two for dinner, totally unaware that this gem existed if we wouldn’t have read raving reviews on a Brockville Facebook group. Well, we are adding our accolades as well.
The atmosphere has a touch of modern, accented with a cozy, country feeling by the use of natural wood wall panels and ceiling boards. We were too early for the scheduled musician, but the stage is centrally located allowing everyone to be part of the vibe.
Our waitress Kalina was very professional, knowledgeable and forthcoming with recommendations. She recommended the spinach dip( served with ample pieces of pita, perfect for sharing) as an appetizer.
Some hot sliced baguette pieces and garlic butter was served complimentary.
For the mains I had the Pepper Steak, served on a bed of rice with a blend of green peppers, mushrooms and onions and my dining partner had the 12oz New York Strip loin, served with fresh greens, choice of baked or mashed potato.
We weren’t rushed and the entrees arrived perfectly spaced, seeing that we had the spinach dip. Presentation was wonderful and appetizing.
The Sirloin was perfectly cooked, as requested, and the amazing homemade pepper sauce was to die for !
The pepper steak was flavourful and wonderfully seasoned. A perfect combination and every bite tasted different and new.
The owner stopped by, making sure that everything was to our liking and thanking us for choosing them for our dining out.
Needless to say there were no leftovers ! We are so glad to have found this treasure of a place and will for sure return for more culinary...
