Horrible Experience – Never Going Back
What a complete disappointment. Their website and Google both say Sifat Indian Cuisine is open until 9pm on Saturdays. I walked with my two boys to Central Mall specifically to enjoy some Indian food, only to be completely misled.
We arrived at 7:15pm and found the Tecumseh side doors to Central Mall locked. Right there was a sign for Sifat saying they’re open until 9pm. We walked all the way around to the back location, passed another big billboard that ALSO said open until 9pm, and finally saw their lit "OPEN" sign… but the doors were locked.
Through the window I saw a female worker, so I knocked. She looked right at me and signaled that they were closed. I yelled back, “It’s not 9pm,” and she just waved her arms “no” at me. As we started to leave, she suddenly came out the back kitchen door and told us we could come in that way. Already very strange, but we were hungry and hopeful.
Inside, all the food displays were shut off, but we noticed two men sitting at a table eating. I asked for menus, sat down with my kids, and took five minutes to explain their options. When I finally went to order, I asked for 3 meat thali platters. Out of the five curry options, they only had ONE available: butter chicken. That’s it. And the last time I had their butter chicken it was stone cold.
At that point, my boys and I just left frustrated and went for pizza instead. We would have happily spent good money there, but they clearly didn’t want our business. Misleading hours, locked doors, rude signals from staff, and hardly any food available.
I’m officially giving up on this restaurant. There are plenty of other Indian places that actually want customers and know how to treat them. Don’t waste your...
Read moreGreat authentic food! The garlic naan is exceptional - you must try it! The pakoras looked great too, though I didn’t try them.
This is a very small place for dine in, and probably won’t work well for large groups. I think there are only 4 or 5 tables, and four people at a table would probably be a little cramped, but it is neat and clean.
The couple who run it are friendly and the food is very well seasoned - I could really taste each seasoning component. It was clearly fresh and hand made.
They didn’t ask me about the spice level, and my Amritsar paneer was hot enough that my wife wouldn’t have liked it, though it worked well for me. If you prefer a mild version I expect they would make one, but you should probably make...
